Real Madrid 2nd leg - how?!

I think a few of you are missing the point that this is based on the Governments so called "14 day quarantine ruling".It has nothing to do with any obstacles put in our way by UEFA so lets hope Boris`s Mob will relax this ruling.I thought that our Government had an agreement with a few European countries anyway ref the relaxing of said quarantine rules ?
If they all arrive and leave by private jet surely there can be no issue with this as the whole squad is operating within a closed environment. This reeks totally of the crooks at Real Madrid trying to cheat againl. Tebas (a Real Madrid fan) will have his greasy hands all over it as usual. Even with no fans losing home advantage is significant.

As it stands now its all good and will go ahead at the Etihad as quarantine with Spain relaxed. However the caveat is were a month away still so things can change and potentially we could be back under lockdown in a month with quarantine reinstated. That's the scenario that'd mean the game switches to Lisbon.
It shows how fast changing things are with this virus that they selected Portugal as it was the least affected of countries at that time and now fast forward a few weeks and everyone is told to avoid it

They may well be "trying it on" but as long as we can prove that we are adhering to strict measures set out by the Government then the issue shouldn`t occur.
I assume we have good contacts within the Home Office. ;)

Haven't UEFA said they need the decision by next week, putting pressure on us. Situation is a movable feast with COVID. What's to say Portugal dont have to go back into lockdown again?

Very true and this is something that will have been discussed at great lengths. As you say, come the week before the game and England and Portugal are "out of bounds" then a further venue/s will have to be considered.

There is no "pressure" on us.Its down to the Government to confirm that there should be no issues and the match should go ahead as planned.

I still struggle with the fact that football has been allowed to continue at all, one thing not being mentioned is that if we go through to the final then our final match will be played towards the end of August while the dippers are chilling out withere feet up. Next season will be a long slog for us.

So why do Sky lead with "UEFA conirm that Manchester City will have to play Real Madrid in Portugal....."

Why not have, UEFA have confirmed Manchester City WILL play their second leg quarter final tie at the Etihad unless..."

No agenda...?
I suggest you read all the message as Sky DO suggest IF it cannot go ahead at The Etihad ie Government policies and procedures. You are looking at it far too negatively.

Disagree, there is loads of pressure on us.... agree we need to be compliant, but n the current political environment it is highly likely we will have travel agreements with Spain, less likely Portugal, so we have the worry and uncertainty whereas Madrid... they know they're going to have to travel...

Yes, I dis read the whole banner, but why start on the negative for City.

Had this been United you can be certain they would have said... "UEFA confirm Manchester United's tie against Real Madrid will take place at Old Trafford subject to..."

Well I wouldn't hold your breath then for us to have an answer by the date stipulated from UEFA. Not sure what will happen if we dont meet the deadline. Can they take it out of our hands and make us play it in Portugal?

Yes if we cannot guarantee the safety of their team. But again its down to our Government to show that as a country we are compliant in ensuring the safety of visitors to our shores, whether it be for tourism or sporting events.
