Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

In the early days after the takeover we nievly (sp) believed we were as good as Madrid.
Now we know we are as good if not better than them and perhaps more importantly, so do they
Pep was correct what he said last night, His City team of 4/5 years ago would have been beaten 4 or 5-1 last night, We are a different animal now.

Real Madrid know it.

There are some serious Muppets on here. It saddens me to read their negative posts. For me our boys did us proud against one of the worlds best teams, in an intimidating stadium.
Well done I say to our warriors in blue. It’s only half time, but fight like that again and history will remember this brilliant squad of players, supporting the best manager off all time.
One day this incredible run of ours will stop. Enjoy this period in our history because I doubt it will last forever.
Super post. My sentiments exactly

I'd have taken a draw before the game and I'm reasonably happy with the result, but it's still a bit annoying to only draw when we were ahead twice.
Keeping it at 1-0 was always unlikely but we should have been able to hold on to 3-2. And that really would have shit them up for the second leg. We go on and I'm fairly confident we'll beat them as we did last year, but I can't see it being 4-0 again. I expect the atmosphere to be equally electric though.

I don't think they were happy coming to the Etihad regardless of the score, after what happened last year.

Their fans don't travel so it'll be basically be a cauldron of blue, and after watching them give their best last night in front of their fans, I don't think they've got much else to give.

We've hopefully got Ederson, Walker and Kev to return, which should make us a different proposition.
Bring hell down on their heads, fry their brains with noise, they don't like it !!

I do like Modric, but his great performance was the perfect definition of a cameo role. He stole the movie in the 10 minutes he was on screen (as far as RM were concerned) but the film was still pretty average. Remember, he played at the Etihad last year and looked as shell shocked as everyone else in the team.

My overall take on the game was that we we walk away with a draw in a game we should/could have won, compared with last year when Kev got us a draw in a game we looked like losing. We really are the best team in the world and complacency is the biggest challenge we face now.

I thought City were brilliant for the majority of that 2nd half. To dominate Madrid on their own turf like City did was fantastic. This is a Madrid team that haven't lost at home for over a year and are 8 points clear at the top of their own league.
It was a great game and anyone who says City play boring football is mental. When 2 good teams come up against each other and go for it, this is what can happen. Its just the rest of the shithouse premier league teams tend to park the bus against City to make games boring.
Absolutely right.

Not with Pep & the characters in the team.

Just watching Sky Sports Morning News. Opening 18 minutes all about Arse/ Bayern.
City/Real Game 7 minutes !
Well they did (probably - haven't got sky so I'm guessing here) have to talk at length about how Saka kicked a 'keeper and weirdly didn't get a penalty for it, whilst presumably laughing about the Gabriel picking the ball up incident, saying "you just can't give a penalty for that in the Champions League QF"

Possibly? Maybe? Am I close?

Great post. I thought we played very well for the majority of the game. Our tactics and energy were great. Hopefully we can finish them off next week.

Real Madrid were good on the counter, but their first goal was very lucky. City were the better team in the second half. Real Madrid looked tired second half too. Real Madrid dont have any games like that in La Liga. Bellingham is a twat. Foden is a star. Real Madrid players were looking for fouls all the time. Referee was having none of it. All to play for at the Etihad. Come on City!
