Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

So we conceded 6 goals because of players not playing into the corner?

And we were knocked out by Lyon, Monaco and Chelsea because of bad decisions by the players?

Peps press conferences where he tells us all how inferior we are because of our lack of history in this tournament makes it more difficult for us to win?

How the history clubs have so much more history?

what about Bayern then? What happened with that argument?

wake up mate.

I can't get this ever circular argument with you.

You can't see Guardiola has stopped overthinking. Stopped over-tinkering. We're not talking about deep history as he's grown since then, so none of that is relevant except for a learning curve.

Guardiola has stated maybe he's not good enough to lead us forward, so you might get your wish after all?

However, Guardiola fights YOU as well as the media, it seems...

Maybe YOU should slap yourself awake. Hard.

IF the players have developed a "stronger mentality" then it will be the only benefit we can take from the game. A sort of coming-of-age moment. It's not a disaster if we address the "seeing a game out" flaws that cruelly bit us on the arse. If it happens again though......

Gotta love Guardiola. Great points.

Just to add to this, we have a management team that should be able to improve players. We don’t have to have the finished article. The lad at soton who plays fullback for them with the French name is raw but affordable and would improve immeasurably under pep
Jared Bowen...im thinking that type of buy from Hull..inspired...he genuinely is very talented and gives it more than is all. I think as we have pep..who improves players..we should take advantage..get a good domestic scouting team up and running. We have thousands of well 'schooled' lads in this country now as most players across all leagues have been at acadamies for years..so technically should have the fundamentals...players develop at different stages. Just need to find those that are on the upward curve again..

Gutting, ballsed it up right at the end when the tie should have been dead and buried way earlier than that. Pep for once didn't over think it and only made one mistake, bringing on Grealish, but the players let him down at the last. Has to be said though, the CL is a despicable competition rigged even worse than the Pl, that referee was beyond bent in everything he did.

Particularly gutted for Walker and Bernardo who really didn't deserve that.
Geealish half inch away from the keepers studs...goal = hero..2:0 were through..inspired sub! Just saying...an extra half inch ...apparently makes all the difference!!!

The tie overall should have been put to bed in the first 45 minutes at the Etihad, Real were on the ropes and getting ripped to shreds, yet after 90 minutes we had a one goal lead, that's why this tie was lost.
Yeah agreed, that first leg no matter how brilliant a game it was cost us. Haaland or some other top striker has to arrive this summer

Would Casemiro have been stupid enough to commit either his second or third yellow card offence if he'd been booked for the first one? If the answer is "no" then we'd have been up against a slightly hesitant defender, but still a top class defender. Would we have been able to gain a significant advantage?
As for the question of motivation: We have a team of top class players and all of them needed a degree of self-motivation to get to the top of their games. Whatever Pep did or didn't say, they should have been sufficiently motivated in the final few minutes to see out the game. They shouldn't have needed an "on-pitch leader" to keep their heads together, not taking chances and not giving the ball away cheaply should have been obvious to each and every one of them.
He should have been sent off for the first offence on KDB, it wasn’t just a yellow card.

My wish is that he starts to motivate the players differently in this competition.

My opinion is and always was that he struggles with that in this tournament based on past games performance/results and at different clubs.

We weren’t eliminated because they didn’t play into a corner.
