Real Madrid (A) | Post Match Thread

It was a bit frustrating to watch at times because we played so slow but I assume that was the plan. Keep the ball and pass it around. Worked very well most of the time but we have the ball away to easily at times. The fact we got their fans whistling for longer periods of the match when they never touched the ball was good. They did look dangerous between goals but we coped well. Got to score first next week or they will spend most of the match rolling around…actually they will do that at 0-0 also.

Wonder if the ball did go out of play before our goal. Lino had a prefect view and was looking right down the line so I assumed not. Either way it wasn’t even close to being same attacking phase.

Bernie did have an off day and Gundo didn’t seem himself after being elbowed in the head.

Thought we looked tired in general (maybe why we played slow).

Great performance. Away at the Bernabau, dominating possession, playing against 12 (that **** gave advantage when John Boy got taken out on the edge of the box, allowed that **** Rudiger to do to Ilkay what he did to KDB in Porto, let Jack get battered against the advertising hoardings then allowed the **** who did it to pretend he’d been hit, allowed Kroos to king du kick Ilkay, gave them 3 corners that were goal kicks, etc. Well done City

I wonder how much the abolition of the away goals rule is taking effect on a team's mentality. It certainly means that you don't need to panic at 1-0 down with 25 minutes to go. I was thinking 'please keep it to 1-0' instead of 'we badly need an away goal'. Weirdly, I felt less worried about RM scoring at 1-1 than I did at 0-0. I guess old habits die hard.

Seeing Pep happy at the press conference in the end, I think Pep knows and feels Ancelotti has played all his cards already. Ancelotti was throwing in the subs to get something and he did not seem pleased at the result at all..Pep seems to have a understanding of how real plays now (atleast that was what he hinted heavily after the match).

The main thing we need to fix is the Camavinga vs Bernie Matchup which was very bad for us. Otherwise I cannot remember any big problems other than that side.
