Re: How do we approach the Madrid game?

Can't see us getting a clean sheet the way we have been defending this season so can we score at least 3 to get a result?

Re: How do we approach the Madrid game?

I think Maicon will play as their main weakness is the left side Marcelo is poor defensively and pushes very high up and ronaldo will not come back to help out Milner might play on left for his defensive attributes

For me i say we just go for it!

--------------------Hart--------------------
--Zabaleta----Kompany---Lescott----Clichy-----
-------------Javi Garcia----------------------
---------------------Yaya Toure--------------
---Silva------------Tevez--------------Nasri---
-------------------Dzeko--------------------

Subs from; Pantilimon, Kolo Toure, Sinclair, Aguero, Balotelli, Maicon, Barry, Milner...
We wont go with 4 attackers it will be either 5 at the back or three in midfield with Yaya in front of 2 holding players. Did you see what happened in Munich?

And to a lesser extent in other euro games. Above all we need to be solid.

The question is are we ready to unleash 352. It looked OK in pre season but...

I'd go with

Hart

Zabaleta Kompany Clichy

Milner Garcia Barry Kolarov

Yaya Silva

Tevez

Ronaldo usually plays on the left for Madrid, so Zaba and Milner should give him something to think about.

I also think Arbeloa is a weak link for them so Kolarov could have a productive evening.

Re: How do we approach the Madrid game?

We can't keep giving the ball away against teams of this calibre , and we can't afford to be sloppy at the back either .... workrate will all important , and we must also take any chances that do come our way

if we learnt anything from last season it should be to try to win groups early , and that means BEATING sides like Real Madrid ... although a draw there would probably do the trick providing we come up trumps in the remaining fixtures !

I think some of the sloppiness not just from City but from a lot of the top teams across Europe is due to this summer having been an international tournament one so the vast majority of players had little or no pre season. This factored in with the international break we've just had means there's been nothing more than a handful of training sessions for players like Silva, Nasri, Balo, Lescott, Clichy, etc. We will get better, even though the passing yesterday and against Liverpool wasn't sharp enough at all compared to how we started last season.

In terms of how we approach Madrid, depends upon what the situation is with Aguero. If he's going to start (which I'm beginning to think he will) then I suspect we'll play with 3 at the back, Maicon and Kolarov as wingbacks, Yaya and JG or GB holding, and Silva in behind Tevez and Aguero.

If Aguero isn't ready to start, then I agree the best approach is 4231 matching Madrid's formation with Yaya in behind Tevez, Silva one side and Milner the other, with GB or JD and JG holding.

---Zaba-----------Kompany--------Lescott------------Clichy---
-------------------Garcia----------Rodwell------------------------
-----Milner----------------Yaya----------------Silva-------------
--------------------------Tevez----------------------------------

This formation I guess might be used against Madrid....Zab and Milner doing a double job over Ronaldo and Rodwell chasing down Mesut OZil the way he did Silva last year at etihad against everton....we have to play counterattacking football and a draw will be very good and win a bonus......Onwards and Upwards....CTID

The biggest factor will be playing Champions League in front of 80000 at the Bernabau.

Maicon was bought for his experience on nights like this. He will play.
Kolarov is on fire and has a dead ball potential. He will play.
Barry played 30 mins without trouble. He will play.
Aguero has been declared fit and he knows exactly what to expect. He will play.
Garcia has champions league pedigree. He will play.

SO

Hart
Maicon Vinnie Lescott Kolarov
Garcia Barry
Ya Ya
Tevez. Silva
Kun

This midfield will get he better of Kheidera Modric Alonso. I can only see three points for us with this line up. Forza!

I agree with this except for the inclusion of Aguero. I'd leave him to recover for another week and pick Balotelli. I think he has a point to prove to Mourinho and this is the stage on which to do it.

Re: How do we approach the Madrid game?

I just dont think milner is good enough on the ball and think we are past the stage where we play a player purely based on his workrate which should not be a problem for any player in this fixture.

I'm 99% certain Aguero will start on Tuesday night... so make room up there for him somewhere!

We cant play two striker against Madrid at Bernabue and leave the midfield open...It will be suciedal....Either Aguero or Tevez...But I believ it will be Tevez cus of his work rate and form.....Aguero and can come on late if we need him
