Re: real reason why we wont win the league
Down to a few things:
1. Utd have had a superb season. Record number of points after this amount of games. If they had similar to last seasons tally, which was still exceptional, we would be alot closer to them. They have not been great, alot of thier games the opposition have had more chances to score and prime example was Southampton last week who battered them but couldnt score. Also had abit of luck in the tricky away games as Pool, Chelsea with soft sending offs etc. They do have 2 strikers who can put the ball in the net though and are alot more clinical than we have been.
2. Squad strength.
Dont flame me, but i do think Utd have a better squad than us. This however has taken many more years to build than we have had so far and is littered with 6-20 million pound signings. Our bench v Southampton was quite poor, no striker, lack of creative options available.
However this hopefully with the Ethiad campas will improve in years to come with our own "Evans/Wellbeck/Cleverly" coming through. Doesnt have to be a Messi, though be nice, but it should give us alot more cover in depth.
3. Confidence. I really think that deflected free kick off Nasri was a real sinker. We had come back from 2 down, had them on the ropes and were the better team on the day. That goal seemed to drain us, i though Zabs was going to cry, and has spured them on.
4. Complaceny/Desire. After winning it last year, a few players seem happy with their medal and think job done. Thats why the summers failure in the market has cost us as 1-2 new players in the starting 11 would have freshened things up and they would have had the hunger to win a medal. Some performances this year like Sunderland and Southampton, it seems they think the games won before kick off. Youll get results like QPR where the keeper has a blinder but i just dont see the hunger there like it was last year.
