Red Card for Glen Johnson?!?!?!

There have been some pretty odd debates going on in this thread. Quite a few people seem to be missing the point:

- Kompany's tackle which very few will say was a red card tackle and that we see several times every game, had the chance to be reverted after review and it was not. As a result, surely the F.A. have to now outlaw all challenges like this that happen so often.

- As for those saying we are hypocrites; we are missing Kompany for the best part of 5 games. This has already resulted in going out of the F.A. cup. It is looking like a contributing factor for going out of the league cup, and we also still have 2 more league games to go. As for Liverpool, they get off bone dry for a tackle far more wreckless and dangerous than Kompany's. It is just plain ridiculous. If tackles like that are going to be punished, which they have made completely clear after the appeal was turned down, then they HAVE to punish them. Not pick and choose.

The only real difference in the 2 situations is Rooney. He made the decision against Vinnie but nobody told Mason what to do.

Simply put, if Kompany's deserve a red for a two-footed lunge, then so does Johnson. Fuck this shit referees and the fucking FA.

have not read all pages but not only Johnson but Carroll committed same two footed slide in in the first five minutes on Clichy- just as bad and no ref reaction - it is totally scandalous the inconsistency of it all and what can players and management make of this ? It utter confusion for all and most importantly the paying public are GETTING ripped Off because of it!

Anyone hear the feature on the Johnson tackle on Skysports this morning by the hack mick Dennis, started to quote the rule book and basically said it is up to the ref to use his discretion, but took hell of a long time to get to the point, in a nutshell the ABCs anybody but city are skirting around any clause to justify their injustice to vinnie, as a side note Dennis can't even string a sentence together and used this to bore the living daylights out of everyone.

This. Regardless of whether us as city fans are whining or making excuses or whatever label other fans are giving us as a result of this and mancini's post match interview, we have to stand up for equality. Double standard is just not acceptable, and there is so much that we can take. If kompany misses 3 matches (+2 previous red and appeal) then fine, we'll take it on the chin, rules are rules but if the same incident happens against us and nothing occurs then i'm sorry, ALL IS NOT OKAY!

well it's the muFA primarily but Liverpool are also one of their favoured few

so there is no chance that the muFA would punish Johnson for his challenge even though it was way worse than Vinny's genuine tackle

Corrupt and/or Inept........take your choice
Nobody can be that inept

It was potentially dangerous but he was at the ball first. Clearly there first.
Only got there first because he launched himself feet first off the ground and hit the ball with his studs. Clear RC offence.

But he didn't touch the player. I agree it was absolutely wreckless. It had the potential to be horrendus IF he had made contact. But he didn't. He got there first.
Are we now supposed to punish players on ifs and maybes?
Yes.

The laws in place governing the sort of tackle Johnson made (which, incidentally, was different to the VK 'tackle') are in place to prevent injury from happening in the first place. Flying in off the ground at speed with both feet together and studs up is dangerous and is outlawed for the very reason that it might cause serious injury. An injury doesn't have to actually occur for it to suddenly become dangerous.

I agree. Apart from the fact that he did actually catch Lescott as well. Seen from the other angle you see Lescotts ankle bending under the impact.
