Liam, when you grow up and become more proud of your roots you will realise that your life would have been more fulfilled had you supported your local team. You would have an affinity with your community, through good times and bad, and would be able to attend on a regular basis.

As it is, you might as well be a Malaysian national watching the streams on your internet with a fake Chicarito shirt on. You don't know what you are missing out on.

To be honest, I don't think I'll ever be properly 'proud' of my roots, the hole that I live in.. But I do occasionally look on at the fans of their local team and think, as shit as you're doing, you're all doing shit together, even when I go to the odd game I think, there's a sense of community and that everybody here knows each other, which, honestly, I don't really like about OT, as many people there are from Manchester, a lot are from Ireland, London etc. In fact, I saw a coach that said 'Dorset branch' of the MUFC Supporters' club. I also hate the day trippers.

Why? Although I'm not a regular, I'm by no means a day tripper, and when I see them taking photos of EVERYTHING that happens, buying some shite merchandise I just think, you're barely even a fan.

You see, I know a lot of decent reds, but there are also a lot of dick heads but we also have a lot of dick heads supporting us.

A close mate of mine is a United fan...never goes to games but speaks a lot of sense.

I always see the same faces every week, home and away, which as you said, doesn't seem to happen at United.

Well, going to OT for football was out of the question back then, number of reasons, travel money etc, not from Leeds, but Christ, I hate to think of my life he had chosen to support them as a kid. And I;m not talking about watching them on the tele, I mean just following them in general. He did support his local team as well, mainly for the sake of watching football rather than being a fan of the club, I did the same last season when I couldn't afford to go to United

And I can afford to go, just not regularly, or until I can get another job

Well as it's gone on for so long now I feel like I do have an affinity, or do we have different definitions of an affinity? And he did support his local team (Bradford Park Avenue, who later became extinct) But when he saw United play in the Cup Final against Leicester when he was 7, he saw them all play i.e. Charlton, but moreso Best, that he appreciated United. He did really enjoy watching Best play, which led to following United more and more.
