Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

just seen clip of ref watch good old dermot talking about romero tackle and saying why the demand for sendings off havent we had enough of them already 31 red cards after 14 rounds of football only 30 last season altogether
so i guess no more sendings off then we've reached limlt

They have to. The home team’s owner ran onto the pitch here when they conceded a 97th minute equaliser and punched the referee.

Sheikh Mansoor needs to up his game.

Probably the wrong comment knowing your stance for the officials.

Even worse knowing how that crowd could’ve changed.

Oh, bugger! I know it was satirical ;-)

It's not like they changed the rules and started punishing dessent and time wasting with yellow cards.... Oh .... Wait.

I'm glad they changed the rules on that one but there's going to obviously be more cards while habits change. It's like changing speed limits from mph to kph then complaining that the number of speeding tickets issued has gone up.

For the record, I don’t think the refereeing is of a great standard at the moment. I just don’t think they’re competent enough to get decisions right all of the time, due to the speed of the game and constant cheating that goes on.

Hooper made a howler in not playing the advantage against Spurs and I was out of my seat shouting at the fucker in the stadium. I still don't think it was bent, it was just a shit decision.

The approach to VAR needs to change. Clear and obvious needs to be binned and on field refs should look at all contentious decisions on the screen to make their own mind up without being essentially told they’ve made an error before looking at the screen.

Anyway, I’ve said my piece and some will agree and most probably won’t. Until there is ever a scrap of evidence to prove corruption, I won’t believe the refs are good enough to be bent.

I'm also in the incompetent rather than bent camp, or I was until the Hooper debacle. Had he blown immediately then fair enogh, bad decision, but to go through the process of waving play on then when the advantage he has allowed develops, then blow up? There is no rational explanation for that that I can see other than bias, whether conscious or otherwise

Who knows? Only he does really. Maybe he thought Haaland had shanked the ball and brought it back. We’ll never know, sadly.
