Well this season has only had 16 games for a start but what are you asking for. A replica of the same where one of our players was sent off? That's a bit of a strange argument/attitude to have if you ask me.
It wasn't just both feet off the ground, he made contact with the player. Maybe not this season but I'm sure I remember red cards in the past being given when no contact has been made but it's still given on the basis of recklessness/dangerous play. So I'm doubling down on that, if that was one of our players and the VAR is looking at it, yes he's telling the ref to go and take another look at it because he thinks there's enough for a red there.
Arsenal fans and most of the pundits(MOTD etc) wanted a straight red for Kova's yellow card when we played them. That wasn't as bad as either of Hwangs challenges on Akanji and Walker(both orange, neither even made the highlights). It definitely didn't come close to ticking the boxes that the foul on Foden did.
I'm not even claiming there's some conspiracy to stop City, that was the reason for pointing out how weak his conviction was, letting the crowd dictate to him(I do remember now it was the Wolves ref I was thinking of where I noticed the same, we were terrible that game but they were on the ref from the first half for everything, it's no wonder Hwang stayed on the pitch). Kova was fortunate not to get a second yellow but we lost that game anyway and he did receive a yellow for his orange card tackle. The player who fouled Foden recieved nothing and I find it hard to believe the ref didn't see enough there for atleast a yellow in real time. I agreed with Rodri's red card, he had to go. However, we can't ignore there was a whole half of football leading up to that where the ref lost control of the players in a match that City were winning and at home. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which team needed to get under the others' skin, with niggly fouls, pushing their luck to see what the ref would allow. Our fans were on the refs back in that first half but he didn't let it phase him(typical).
I don't think this comes under tinfoil hat territory, to say the coverage City gets from the broadcasters does have double standards, we do have plenty of evidence of that(I've given you one from this season in this post). I mentioned how the crowd can impact a refs decision making(even if it's subconscious or subtle it can make a difference), why would the media coverage be any different? When they are told a City player should have been sent off. Some cockney ex player moaning "The refs gone and had a howler there, harrz ee not given that!". The constant focus on Rodri's tactical fouls and how many yellow cards he gets handed(it was Fernandino before him). They've even campaigned to get Aguero a retrospective red card just before a derby, for an elbow that didn't connect. I think the media know what kind of influence they can have and anyone who thinks there isn't an agenda against City on that side of football, needs to wake up.
