Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

Was fearing the worse when i saw we had Madley yet again esp after Chelsea at home but was surprised by him today, didn't fall for the Rags diving (you know Oliver/Attwell/Taylor etc would have given them a free kick for that Rashford dive).
Only gripe was the time added on, remember his 4 minutes only v Chelsea. 1st half i though 3 added on was too low considering they were time wasting from every set piece and no idea where 8 came from at the end either.
Expecting the usual v Dippers though, reckon Taylor or Oliver
A lot of blues have selective memory syndrome!

Stones injury - 30 secs
Flare on pitch and Doku sub - 1m 30 secs
Onana fake injury - 1m 15 secs
Evans sub - 45 secs
Rashford sub - 30 secs
VAR check on Ederson - 30 secs
United double sub - 30 secs
Onana time wasting-? secs/minutes
2 goals scored- 2 minutes

So comfortably 8 minutes surely?

This week was fair. We were badgering the ref about added time because of their time wasting the whole game so can’t really complain when he listens and adds it on.
There would have been no complaints had it been 1-1 when the board went up.

True, when it was 1-1 late on I remember being thankful that quite a bit would be added on.

Still waiting for Varane`s red, there was no one between him and the goal at the time, he was running at goal, not surprised at all that the ref whipped out a yellow, knowing that put an end to VAR or any other input.

Obviously not a City game, but a result that could have a huge impact on the title race.

The thing Gallagher is ignoring is the demoralising effect an unjust decision can have on a team, especially one that has worked its bollocks off for 95 minutes, is in possession of the ball well out of danger with two or three minutes to go, only for the ball to be given to the other team for a counter-attack.

I compare it to the Rashford/ Fernandes goal that completely threw City for a while it was such an obviously wrong decision, we let a second in and, when we finally regained control, we couldn't claw it back.

It didn't matter if Liverpool scored 90 seconds later. Forest's positioning and heads were gone and they made the wrong decisions. Classic influencing of the match, deliberate or not.

If the dippers win the title by 2 points. Tierney should be given a winners medal with them.
Chris Kavanagh might have something to say about that with the 3 points he won for them at the Etihad disallowing a perfectly good goal Simon Hopper would say he’s deserved one as well stopping a last minute City attack v Spurs robbing City of a potential 2 more points

I work in Nottingham with a lot of Forest ST holders, they said the atmosphere at the end of that game was one of the most hostile in years. It being Liverpool did have a bearing on it too.

Have to say though, I watched all that game and although a big error, I do think it’s being overblown at the same time too, which I get due to what happened afterwards. He did the same error in the first half too though so it just came across as incompetent to me.

Overblown ! Why ? Forest get the ball in the corner and everything is totally different. They could force another corner and possibly score from it, they could look to run the clock down anything. That was a monumental fuck up.
