Dermot having a mare, Robinson disagreeing with everything he's said so far and rightly so.
just watching that, the difference between someone who hasn't played football v an ex pro and i agree every time with robinson , there needs to be a fast track for retired players who want to become officials

Proves how clueless and naive these fuckers in black are.

Because Martinelli 'didnt lead with his arm or fist' it isn't a red........2 ex pro's, who know exactly what his intentions were, using the force of his body to cause damage, saw it correctly as a red.

The lack of awareness of these officials is staggering, they just aren't street wise, and they seem incredibly sheltered and naive.

The problem with the above is that a player will get seriously injured as a result of them not being able to recognise shithousery.

Maybe Webb on his new programme can chat through why that wasn’t a penalty as I can’t see any reason for it not to be. Pickford just punched him in the back of head with the ball nowhere near.

First off, it's a penalty.

I think it's not given due to Haaland taking a couple of looks back at Pickford - refs often think this means that the player is playing for the contact.

Makes no difference really, if the foul happens the foul happens. I'm sure that's the excuse they'll give though.

However, the players also have a duty of care for each other now, and you see players sent off for a high boot when they don't see the player coming because they didn't look first. Refs can't have it both ways. Players need to be checking what each other are doing and being aware.

i think this is 100% correct

haaland looking at pickford makes it look like he's looking for it (it's why I thought it wasn't at the time).

it clearly is a pen on replay though based on where pickford catches him

The Martinelli challenge was a red all day long. It was premeditated and basically an assault. The only reason I can think of for him not getting a red card is that it was 5 minutes into the game. I assume the refs are under orders to keep it 11 v 11 at all costs to ensure viewers stay watching. If I'm correct that is corruption. I could also add that a red would have all but ended the title race and nobody wants that with 3 games to go do they.

How many times though do we hear commentators/'experts' saying the ref 'spoilt the game' when they give an early red card?

I think they just want to avoid doing that, but in doing so they're avoiding doing their jobs. Not saying there's no corruption, but more often than not it's due to cowardice on their part.
