Nottingham Forest are considering whether to lodge an official complaint with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) over the performance of the refereeing team

Forest boss Steve Cooper said he needed to "bite his tongue" over what he really felt about referee Stuart Attwell and his colleagues.

However, it is understood Forest officials left Old Trafford seething over various decisions they felt were pivotal in deciding the game's outcome.

After Saturday's game, which Forest led 2-0 after four minutes, Cooper said: "In games like this you need things to be how they should. I am not going to talk too much as I don't want to get into trouble but I was surprised how quickly the decisions were made.

I hope they do, managers and clubs inc us have to start calling it out more and getting it into the public domain. It’s got worse since Webb took over and Attwell should not officiate another Rag game

For me, Cooper absolutely nailed it,both decisions were debatable at best, however, the speed at which they made decisions were inappropriate leading to pre meditated motives involved. I would hate for City to continually be beneficiaries of this decisions as it takes away so much.That despicable charade of a club will stoop to anything without any morals whatsoever.

They scored too early, the officials had 100 minutes to work their brand saving magic

what i dont get it is why should he get into trouble for questioning the officials, webb has repeatedly apologised for officials making questionable decisions so why are they still a protected species that are above question, they are grown ups who are paid to do a job, if they dont do that job competently then there is every reason to question them and they should publicly respond to any questions or accusations, its shameful that they cant and wont.

Could have been worse today, gave the handball penalty without relying on VAR and didn’t give them the soft free kicks around the box they were looking for. Those wrestling to the ground incidents inside the box rarely get given even though they should be. Maybe 7.5/10

Overall he was good but missed the penalty on Haaland and thought he was far too lenient with the cards for them leading to some bad fouls but agreed he did not fall for most of their diving

It would appear that bear hugs on Eerling are now legal. If he tries to push them away, then the officials have an excuse not to give a pen. PGMOL are bent.

One for the referees out there to explain ( I've not seen it mentioned so far )
Looking back at Attwell's performance of yesterday. He awards the Rags their usual penalty for yet another of St Marcus's ridiculous dives. He sends a Forest player off notwithstanding the through-ball was clearly on its way into the goalkeeper's arms ( and there was a covering defender in place - just in case ). But the Rags' second goal perplexes me.
RatFace Fernandes sits down and is promptly awarded a free kick.
Rather than hoof the free kick into the area, Fernandes passes the ball sideways to a an unmarked rag outside the area.
The Penalty Area empties as Forest "push up", but leaving Casemiro prostrate on the ground in the 6-yard box.
The ball is then passed to the right wing ( Casemiro still clearly in an offside position -but arguably not interfering with play < yes, yes - I know we're dealing with Attwell here > )
The ball is crossed into the 6 yard box - and a recovering Casemiro traps the ball and puts it into the net. He was on-side when the cross is made but shouldn't he have been deemed offside because of his being offside at the start of the move ?
We regularly see a player "offside" at the start of a move ( but the ball is not played to him and therefore not active ) The game continues and the player - previously offside gets back onside - the ball is then played to him - the flag then goes up and referee gestures with his arms that a "cross-over" has taken place. The player is deemed to be offside because by touching the ball he has become active. What's the difference between those situations and Casemiro's
yesterday ?
