Ref Watch

Watched ref watch on sky and after several replays showing that Milner had tripped Foden, Gallagher said that Foden had tripped himself up. Now that is totally against what was shown to have happened and he was still in denial.
But do you remember a few weeks ago when we had a goal disallowed( Torres) because a Norwich player tripped himself up after a minimal touch from Bernado

Same with Peter Walton on bt, they may as well say, let's go over to Peter whilst he agrees with the referee's decision.
Now to be fair to Peter (bear with me here) he does often offer the correct decision at the time. He'll say something like "definite contact there - clear penalty", but then once VAR has 'looked at it' and said no penalty the shithouse will do a 180. He'll come up with some bullshit excuse like "Well, having seen it again there was contact but not enough in it to give a penalty. He went down too easily for me".

The official explanation on the Milner trip was that VAR deemed that no foul had been committed, so no intervention was necessary.
I wasn’t aware there was an official explanation - have you got a link? I’d love to see how they explain it wasn’t a foul because it looked clear as day to me.

Official story would probably be a better way of putting it because often it bears no resemblance to the incident we all saw play out in front of our own eyes.

Stuart Brennan claimed that was the official excuse from the league/Trafford Mike

It's also bullshit as even a quick scan of the available images shows that Milner made contact from behind causing Phil to trip. That is a foul in the modern game you can bet would have been given in the unlikely event that Phil had been chasing Milner down and caught him on the leg causing him to go sprawling.

From 2016 but would suggest rules remain the same around spilling the beans.
But this dick wasnt spilling the beans and yet he still refused to say the ref got it wrong. He would rather make himself look stupid than admit a mate fucked up. !

This was from a MEN article, I will try to post the link

The official line on why nothing was given was that there was no foul - which figures, because if it was a foul, it would either have to be a penalty or red card.

Hope the link works

Ah ok, I see, thanks. I had seen that but hadn’t considered [dis]information leaked to a journalist to be an ‘official explanation’. If that really is true that is utterly nuts. I can’t believe anyone can look at it and think that’s not a foul.

Think that was Cancelo, and he got booked.

To be fair he did say it was a second booking.

I wonder how many Liverpool fans would be calling a foul by Henderson if it was in the penalty box. Non I would guess, but now they are using it to save Milner you would think Henderson booted bernardo into row z for him to get up and Milner to then foul him.
Gallagher was good to bring up that its still a yellow by Milner even if its given for a foul by Henderson. Course scousers ignore that and make out that Henderson foul saves Milner.

I really dont get how Gallagher on ref watch has said no foul because Foden trips himself up. Its clear as day that Milner makes contact on Foden first so pen. I have seen Gallagher defend decisions given by the ref, saying "the way he reffed the game it wasn't a foul". He couldnt do that this time as Cancelo got a yellow for even less contact but pretty much the same type of foul.

It'll be interesting to see in a couple of weekends, when the PL resumes, whether Tierney gets a game or not. Well know then if he was acting on orders or just bottled it.
I listen to a pod called Seen them given, it’s a good listen and features Keith Hackett who is good and generally spot on. He said that Tierney should have sent Milner off but said that apart from that Tierney was very good. I was gobsmacked!

Hackett will have singed the same NDA as the rest of the cabal. I'm pretty sure he will be under strict instructions not to say anything which may paint the PiGMOL in a poor light.
