Thought that yesterday's match was the most I've ever seen Atkinson get in the way of our play/players. I know it's more common with other ref's but he's never usually that bad.

This attitude is still prevalent and is demonstrated consistently towards the home team at The Etihad. Compare the rapidity with which penalties are awarded in our area from the time a challenge is made and the bastard pointing to the spot, and the instant arm waving indicating no penalty for the foul on one of ours in the area we are attacking. They waste not one second indicating a pen against us - bastards. At least that fat guy had second thoughts when he saw the perfectly good Walker tackle on the screen. And that bastard we had on Saturday will, the next time he's down Anfield or The Swamp not bat an eyelid to award the home team a pen for a barge in the back identical to the Foden one that just got a cursory wave as though Atkinson's arms were weighing heavily.I do think that's an issue. When you hear some refs in game calling players by their club nicknames in play it's sounds more pally than being the authority figure they're supposed to be.
Bring back the bastard refs attitude. At least both sets of fans know the ref is a bastard and players alike will know they can't take the piss.

I remember when Foden was fouled, got up and wasn’t awarded a penalty. We all praised him for his sportmenship trying to continue play instead of rolling over to try and convince the ref.
Even media was positive. Stating that next time Foden was to be fouled the ref would recognise he doesn’t fall over for fun.
