Ref Watch

I agree, and you made some good points in your original assessment.
The problem is we only have two referees remotely good enough to referee the big games ,Oliver and Taylor.
City fans wont accept those two, but the others are hopeless , so currently for most posters it doesn't really matter who refs, the response will always be the same.
Personally I believe Taylor is the best.
Despite the "what about " reies.

I agree, Taylor is good in most games. I do think he leans towards United though, or against City. There have been a few instances that would support this view.

Some inexplicably favour certain teams though. One of the most bizarre performances was Mike Dean in United v Southampton, a few seasons ago.

United are leading 6-0 against 10-man Southampton, and there is a challenge in the Southampton area. United player goes down, penalty and red card!

I mean, if ever you give the benefit of the doubt to the losing side, it is here. It was before VAR, so not reviewed on the day. But the decision was soon overturned upon appeal.

United went on to score the penalty that wasn't even a foul, and racked up nine goals against nine-man Southampton. Totally unfair, borderline corrupt.

I think Dean had recently taken a review course on the updated Referees Handbook.

Unconscious bias only goes part of the way to explaining some of the sh*t that goes on.

You mention Riley, Rag's v Southampton, but what about going further back to the the same Ref, Rag's v Arsenal?

Strange thing is Mike Dean really didn't like Ferguson. And that was from him himself. I think they all have howlers, if there was one I have to say I would happily knock out it would have been Mason.

Yet still won.

This team overcomes all, on and off the pitch.

Worked hard to even up the foul count in the last 15 minutes.

Lost count of the amount of times this twat got in the way tonight. It appeared he blocked off Walker from getting in an interception in the build up to their goal. He was also in the way of Cancelo's pass in the build up to our first goal.

What a surprise, yet another dodgy ref from UEFA. When you look at the stats from @PannickAtTheDisco the pattern is consistent with most games this season. I wonder if we will ever get the same 'fair' treatment that the so called elite European clubs get???

Good job Fernandinho wasn’t playing

Only seen a few minutes of highlights but the ref was overly lenient on PSG and super quick to penalise us. Where do the powers that be find these incompetent (or biased) idiots. And why did VAR have to check the winning goal? The game has been ruined for spectators.

I think he's the same ref that did the 1st leg at the Bernabeu just before lockdown started and he had a good one there.
