Ref Watch

Reffed it brilliantly; no complaints

Paul Tierney is such a c*nt. On the Sterling offside you can clearly see that the ball has already left KDBs foot and is almost 2 feet from it on the frame VAR choose to draw the offside line on. Tierney should obviously have drew the line on the last frame the ball was on KDBs foot, not on a frame after the ball has already left it. Considering Sterling was in the middle of a run and was about 1 cm offside on the wrong frame, it makes it extremely unlikely he was offside when the ball left KDBs foot. With other words, a completely valid goal ruled out because Tierney either doesnt know how computers work, or was trying to find a frame were Sterling was offside even when he wasnt (or both).

I’ll give you exactly one guess as to which was the reason (and why the PL has implemented VAR the way they have).

The ref had a decent game. Still managed to misjudge what was clearly a red card. No interference from VAR. They are more than happy to try and get a goal disallowed for marginally off side with no-one protesting and the linesman understandably not raising his flag. Great for amusing fans. NOT.
Best League in the world. Worst refs and VARs in the world.

smoke and mirrors

Overall did well - thought there was some blatant decisions he/they got wrong - salahs shot and Mahrezs at the end were both corners

Can’t complain with how it was reffed.
The first half was better reffed than the second half but the first half wasn't exactly as it is written down in the LotG. How many times are clear bookings ignored by a ref 'cos he know the jackass will continue to do the rough-house and should be up for a second booking in the second half. Bernie got a yellow for a trip and then how many trips were ignored by Taylor in the second half. I was surprised he allowed play to go on for what the Liverpool Echo will claim as a record - the longest time between a foul and a yellow card being shown. But of the two - shitty reffing and shitty finishing - it was the latter that came out on top!

Always easier to comment with the luxury of TV / replay etc but, in real time, as I saw it, I didn’t see anything to be upset about . Agree on the finishing!
