Ref Watch

Cheers mate.

The Halsey accusations are new to me - I've read a few articles about his accusations because of your post. For the most part - it seems that his accusations are that FA management has pressured refs to toe the line - to not object - and I guess to call more fouls (for whatever reason).

This sort of management misbehavior is extremely undesirable and if Halsey is to be believed - FA management should be fired.

On the other hand - corruption in terms of throwing matches in favor of one team or another - did Halsey make such claims? I can't find anything along these lines.

It's all a bit complicated, but the PL pay for PGMOL - which is hardly ideal.
I don't think the FA have anything to do with it, having sold their power to the PL 30 years ago to spite the Football League.

I think Halsey was told to not mention some incidents or say he'd seen/not seen them:
if he saw them and acted, then it was dealt with
if he hadn't seen it, it could be reviewed after the match

Told to change his match report was he not, for that very reason.

From what Halsey said, it was someone at the PGMOL who told him to alter his match report. The changing of the report subsequently meant Sergio could be retrospectively banned for the up coming Derby.

Attwell was crap again last night, couple of player scuffles as he'd lost control AGAIN.

Should have finished 9 v 11.
Only saw a bit of the game, but you are right. Atwell was causing more controversy. How can this incompetent clown be: a) given a cup semi final and b) be allowed to continue officiating at this level. Anybody else performing this poorly in any other job would have been dismissed by now.

Tonight we saw the most anti-City ref in recent times, there were three or four obvious fouls against us that were waved away, and a few times when Arsenal committed fouls and ignored or given the wrong way. There needs to be greater scrutiny for refs, I think some of them go into games thinking ”these guys have won a lot, maybe it is time for some levelling up”

Had he given us the free kick in the first minute there was a strong argument for a red card hence why he gave them the free kick. Straight through the back of Haaland in the air, no free kick, play on. Finally gave Holding the yellow but he should have been off. Zinny having been booked then commits another yellow card offence but no card. Utter joke of a ref again

That officiating performance was laughable.

Reckon we’ll get a few questionable decisions in our favour against Spurs because the officiating has become too obvious for comfort and they’ll want to relieve the pressure a bit (and have decisions they can point to and say “see, it all balances out!”) without actually impacting the league race that much.

Then it’ll be back to regular programming against Arsenal.
