Ref Watch

So the VAR official Michael Salisbury has been stood down after the spurs Brighton game, but yet the cnut Attwell is free to officiate this weekend says it all, wouldn’t be surprised he’s part of our game ..
Atwell was looking right at the incident for the penalty shout, but by all means blame the guy on VAR.

He is 4th official for Arsenal game and on VAR at Wolves v Brentford.

Attwell has been pushed forward all through his career. Someone decided very early on in his refereeing career that he was going to be the 'new' golden boy, and they've done their damndest to enable it. Even after his correct demotion I was convinced he'd get back. He has, and he's as bad now as he ever was. From a refereeing perspective, he looks absolutely petrified, as though he doubts most of his own decisions. This automatically transfers to players and those scrutinising him, although patently not those decision makers who have thus far enabled his career.
I've always been a believer in the promotion system as club marks had a lot of effect on referee promotion, as they should when done correctly. In this case I firmly believe he is the beneficiary of some manipulation.

Are you trying to say he's got blow job lips?

I had my doubts about the guy last night once I found out he was Spanish - I thought another Spanish ref who's had a few run ins with Pep and suitably placed by Uefa to fuck us over, but Pep had taken his sabbatical before Señor Manzano started his whistling wanker career. After a few clatterings of our players that went unpunished he wasn't all that bad, but only when compared to the shite that turns up in the PL.

Not sure, there was loads of shirt pulling and pull backs on our players that went unpunished at the family stand end. How the fuck Haaland’s shirt kept grabbing the hands of Bayern players I’m not sure

Ah, I pretty much as far away as yer can get, and the eyes needs taking out and giving a good polish, but they're ok for spotting any pens we don't get at that end!

I thought he was fine. Admittedly not the hardest match to ref as both sides generally behaved when there could have been wildly sliding tackles. It was interesting to see his hand gestures that a foul wasn't a booking as it had been very marginally mistimed - that at least explains his thinking.

Couple of minor errors last night but overall by far one of the best performances by a ref this season. The liner though...one job....did the ball go out of play!!!!!!!!?

Remember that goal at the World Cup, where the ball seemed miles out to the naked eye but technology showed it was just overhanging the line?

I suspect linesman have been reminded of that before this season. Seen a few now like last night.

Suppose he had the best view but looked out to me & to the unbiased fans in line with the touchline.

I thought the referee last night was excellent. The only, minor, gripe was how long it took to card Pavard.
Pavard should have been booked in the first half.

He pulled us up for a few 50-50's but let them get away with way worse on us on a couple of occasions. He also waved play-on twice when Haaland was blatantly blocked as he was looking for the return ball. Both should have been a booking (I think one of them was Pavard), and both times the play came to nothing. But apart from that he was okay.
