Ref Watch

It was obvious he should have been harder on carvajal and kroos, but there were times when they were constantly in his ear and he didnt give in to them. Watching arsenal sunday and madrid tonight, this play acting is sad to see go unpunished

They believe that because they can, and they do unfortunately mate. If one of our players did that the red card would be out quicker than Kyle’s cock in that bar. How brilliant was he defensively last night by the way.

I don’t think that statement stands up to much scrutiny. Kroos’ challenge was late, high and intentional and was a clear yellow card. But Silva’s earlier challenge was more likely to cause a bad injury and was only punished with a free kick.

Just watching the replay now and taking a few notes. Up to the 28th minute:

13th minute Bernie crosses the ball and Haaland goes up for a header. Carvajal clatters straight into his back and bowls him over before the ball even gets there.

16th minute Carvajal fouls Gundo.

18th minute Stonesy brought down on edge of box. No foul given.

25th minute Carvajal fouls Jack.

26th minute Carvajal fouls Jack again in what looked like a clear yellow card incident.

28th minute, Gundo body checked and the recipient of a sly elbow to the head by Rudiger.

And that’s only up to the 28th minute!
Anyone else think the push into the back of Haaland was a penalty?

Carvajal should have been in the book probably after his fourth foul but should have seen red for his shove on Grealish into the hoardings. We didn't even get a free kick for it! Kroos arguably should have seen red, either a straight one or a second yellow after his blatant dive, Rudiger assaulted Gundo but disguised it quite well but if you have played the game at a half decent level you would know what he tried to do. That said Rodri and Bernie should have been booked as well. Ref was basically fucking awful and City should be complaining to UEFA about it.

I thought the ref last night 'could have been worse'. He set a very high threshold for a yellow card that effected both sides, but particularly Carvajal. As others have said he tried to keep all players on the field. I hope we don't have Lahoz anywhere near us this season.

Carvajal must have incriminating pics of that ref. Has to.

Yeah, he set the standard for yellow cards to RM players to require borderline red card challenges, and the standard for yellow cards to City players to be generally when an RM player asked for one to be given.

I was shocked when he did book Kev for Kroos’ blatant dive, especially given the fouls he gave for Camavinga and Rodrygo diving, whilst ignoring Carvajal’s and Rudiger’s Krav Maga demonstrations.

He let Rodri off twice when most refs would’ve booked him…..

I honestly thought the ref was good. Rodri could have easily been booked, bernardo with a very nasty tackle early on, he dealt with the numerous handball shouts well, he stopped the play when Madrid where in on the counter for Gundogan and the ball seemingly went out before our goal.

It is an intense atmosphere for refs and personally I thought he did a great job

Whilst he actually got pretty much all the calls right (including Stones looking for the foul on the edge of area), I think it’s a stretch to say he was good when he lost control of the game for 10 minutes after they goal through his own inaction….

Had he booked Carvajal midway through the first half after offence number 3 or 4 he would’ve given himself a much easier evening.

He also made a rod for his own back by letting Carvajal off, meaning he couldn’t really book Rodri late in the second half for a couple of ‘tactical fouls’ when he probably should’ve

Thought the ref made big mistakes in the first half, that came back to haunt him, just hoping that was a throw back to the old homer ref`s, was that 4th official the ref that would not send Casimiro off last year? I can let the ref off in most things but VAR should have sent Rudiger off on his attack on Gundogan.no excuses it had all the angles.

I never understand why in big matches there's this thing around 'letting the game flow' and not giving out yellows. It's not even true that it helps the game to flow and why do the rules change depending on who's playing???

It happens in every big game where an opposition tactic is to interrupt our play. Their tactic is to keep doing the niggly fouls until the ref hands out a card. If the ref is going to be a bit more lenient because it's a big game then the game is going to constantly stop because those fouls will carry on. Managers will literally tell their players to keep doing it to stop us until they get booked.

I don't want any player sent off but Caravajal vs Grealish was a key battle and Carvajal lost that battle constantly. If he's going to lose that battle and have to foul to stop Grealish then he should be booked for it, end of. If not then Grealish will never win that battle because he'll just be fouled unfairly all the time and he was.

It happens in every big game where an opposition tactic is to interrupt our play. They'll then keep doing that until the ref sorts it out but it's stupid when they don't because of this unwritten rule.

Allowing players to constantly get away with those fouls stops the game, booking players so they stop doing it is the whole point of having cards in the first place........
When he was at Villa he was the most fouled player in the PL - on the basis that the fouls were sanctioned with a free kick. Now in sky blue he remains the most fouled player but doesn't get the frees.

City battered them and were in full control. Dominated every department but madrid cunts resorted to hacking . Rudicunt and Carvajal got a free pass from the ref .Gundog got knocked out cold but still no yellow .City players started to shit themselves and lost trust in ref. Tide turned around in a second and they scored. Bernie , Dias and Stones would’ve seen yellow or red if any one made an attempt to tackle. This corrupt ref had a direct impact and influence , also he was literally blocking our channel .

There are two referees in particular to avoid in Europe. Lahoz (no surprise there) and Orsato, the Italian (he was fourth official last night). Hopefully we avoid Lahoz altogether as it is not possible to get the other bastard in the Final.

If we get by Real what chance Lahoz gets the final?
