Referees’ Performances 2018/19

Watching on tv, the handball was not clear. However, my instant reaction was how did the ball get in the net? The angle and travel was all wrong to come off his head.

I thought this was something officials look for when making decisions and they are close by and see from different angles.

Just seen Chelsea game. No penalty but then ref allowed an elbow by Newcastle player. So no agenda by ref. Just incompetence.

The difference imo is that with the elbow incident, he can't see clearly if there is contact so he gives nothing.

With the penalty incident, he can't see clearly if there is contact so he gives Chelsea a penalty. Same with the one Liverpool got at Palace. Would anyone be surprised if Utd got a similar one tonight ? In fact the only reason it possibly might not happen so easily, in similar circumstances, is because they are playing Spurs.

The plain and simple point here is being missed by so many, they have been instructed that if the ball goes in City's box and an attacker goes down,it's a pen,if the ball goes over the line,by any means or ways,it's a goal.

If City are attacking,do your best not to award a pen,and if the ball goes over the line, immediately check the watch and look straight at the linesman, just in case.

Atkinson hates us,and I'm not too keen on him myself,I remember in summer on sky,he was doing a charity bike ride to the WC,and remember shouting at the screen, hope his chain comes off regularly and hope he gets loads of punctures as well the bastard.

But he only joins a list of anti City refs that exists already really

We have broken a series of records recently, including goals scored, points accumulated, possession and touches in opponents’ penalty areas. It is the fact that we are NOT getting significantly higher numbers of penalties (even if not records) that is anomalous.

And, considering we have so much possession, & teams are often desperately trying to put a foot in, we should be picking up absolute shitloads of free kicks.

Instead the refs hand out free foul tickets, as if it's not fair to the opposition to stop them having the odd foul, to get the ball back & we would end up with 20 odd or 30 free kicks, every game, so let half of them go.

But we are. Over the past 8 years we have received 13 more pens than pool, 18 more than Chelsea, 20 more than United, 23 more than Spurs, 25 more than Arsenal. But yes the refs are refusing to give us decisions, absolutely laughable to say were not being awarded decisions. Like I highlighted yesterday Pool received 3 in 38 matches last season and City fans expected 2 in one half of football against Wolves. There is a complete disparity from the reality between supporters and refereeswhat the threshold is for a penalty to be awarded which fuels this bias nonsense.

Where did you get the numbers from? Not doubting them just curious, love a good stat site.

Myfootballfacts site, its pretty decent.

Have a look and see what you think and no worries if you were, its a forum after all.

Am I the only one who thinks most of our games are reffed in the manber "let's make a game of it", a
booking for city players always comes so easily to refs, yet numerous similar fouls against us go unpunished.

It's not laughable at all.

We are being constantly fouled all over the pitch & referees are letting many of them go, especially in the penalty area. It doesn't matter how many we get, it matters how many we don't get.

How many of those pens are against the biggest opponents or in the biggest games ? How many should we have had ? How about illegal goals etc ? How about incidents in the biggest one off games here & in europe ? How many have we had in recent years compared to pretty much everyone else in our position, in every league ?
