Referees’ Performances 2018/19

You said we should receive more penalties and we have but of course its meaningless if it does not suit your narrative.

Its great to see now that myth has been debunked, the narrative (not neccessarily by you) has changed and its oh what minute did we get the pen, was the sun shining bright, who was it against. Can I suggest guys you do a bit of research yourself rather than be blinkered by your own bias?
I don’t have a narrative, though you obviously do. It is anomalous in pure statistical terms that the team with record possession is not receiving record numbers of penalties because there is an obvious correlation between the two. If you can explain that anomaly, I’m all ears. If you can’t even recognise that the anomaly exists then the discussion becomes a little pointless.

Likewise if you can’t see that the pressure in relation to a penalty decision at 2-1 in the 60th minute is an entirely different thing from the same decision when it’s 5-0 in the 90th minute again the discussion is pointless.

But we are. Over the past 8 years we have received 13 more pens than pool, 18 more than Chelsea, 20 more than United, 23 more than Spurs, 25 more than Arsenal. But yes the refs are refusing to give us decisions, absolutely laughable to say were not being awarded decisions. Like I highlighted yesterday Pool received 3 in 38 matches last season and City fans expected 2 in one half of football against Wolves. There is a complete disparity from the reality between supporters and refereeswhat the threshold is for a penalty to be awarded which fuels this bias nonsense.

Stats like this are not showing when the pens come how many was those penalties given to us at 0-0 I’d say 5% at most have you that stat?

No doubt it’ll still be bent but it’ll be much more difficult for it to be as bent as it is now, we will benefit and whether that’s only by a fraction it’s still better than nothing.

We’d have gained 2 points from Saturday and that’s a fact.

Yes, we would have got that one.

But I doubt many of the other stinkers we have had in recent years would have been overturned. Rooney would have had a pen at the swamp though.

No ref watch up yet which seems strange as they are normally first thing up on a Monday.

Cant wait to hear Demot's thoughts....

Just on penalty kicks, for me we get them when we are already 2/3/4 up and the game is won. Refs/others and the stats can then say we get decisions but if the game is tight, we rarely if ever get a decision that will give us the points.

Other teams seemingly do and its quite obvious and not a subtle way for officials to change the course of games whilst seemingly not favouring anyone.

There is not a lot of research needed really, well certainly from my perspective, definitely for home games,as I attend every game, not so much aways these days, but 95% of time we on telly,so I get a good idea,so I see how some "fouls" get pulled or not as the case may be.

There is obviously gonna be a bias narrative,as we are City fans at the end of the day,so we want all the decisions to be in our favour, but we are also not naive to think we will get them all,but some big ones, like the handball goal against us on Saturday, certainly makes more than a talking point.

We don't get the rub of the green in the other box much neither in reality, irrespective of how many pens we have had compared to others, that argument over the last 8 seasons doesn't come into it really does it,it's the here and now we are debating.

If we want to debate the past 8 years let's go further, let's go throughout the time any of us have been watching football.

Let's start with a list of every dodgy decision to favour City, anyone can remember, even if it only helped for for ten minutes, in any game, v Liverpool, ever.

There wasn't a great deal of uproar when Peter Crouch crashed over the line for his equalising try against us although after another handball in a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal he was vilified as the second Maradona.

Literally not a word about the Wolves handball goal but reverse it, we win with a goal like that and you can well imagine the outcry as our rivals are robbed all of a sudden.
