Referees’ Performances 2018/19

Just one you say?

You mean the goal which helped swing the league match in our direction in a top of the table clash between the two sides. The ref/Lino must have been biased and corrupt against Liverpool and the league was fixed for us to win it, or maybe, just maybe he just made an error. Selective memories on this forum. You could chuck in balo not being sent off against Spurs in 2012 and even Tevez striking out at Barton against QPR.

Sorry that is your view of Salah through your own bias. If what you said was true pool would have received a lot more than 3 penalties last year. Its not the best comparison to make in my opinion.

Im off to the beach now but will pop in later. I have outlined my case. Every club could point to pens/fouls not given, no doubt the Palace fans are pointing to that clear sending off yesterday.

Such a shame you couldn't answer the Young on Aguero challenge question, enjoy the day

From memory it was a pen, but not looked at it for ages. No arguments decisions have gone against as they have for us. When they go for us I just do not claim its a conspiracy in our favour but see it as a facet of the game which will never be eradicated while humans, who are fallible, ref games. Thanks, I will do.

No I think the latter is vitally important in this context.

Within the Chelsea v Newcastle there were a number of mistakes, such as the elbow in fact there were mistakes in numerous games. It would be great if these never happened but unfortunately its a facet of the game. However is this bias and corruption in those games? Are these refs fixing all those matches too?.

When viewed through the prism of a city match those mistakes are given as evidence of bias against us and corruption but the reality is they are common place throughout all games. So in the context of whether we are being singled out, I do not believe so as I see mistakes week in week out.

There are individuals on here who state quite categorically the linesmen definitely saw Bolys handball. I think in real time that would be very difficult to capture with any certainty. This weekend I saw a Watford player rake both legs down the back of a palace player right in front of the referee. Clear sending off but it was not given. Do I think the ref purposely cheated Crystal Palace? Is he corrupt? No its a biproduct of having to make a decision on the spot in real time. Something the average fan is not prepared to accept will result in failings and highlights a unrealistic expectation people have of referees.

Did Atkinson ref it well? He was ok yesterday. Wolves offside goal was correctly ruled out (If he and the linesmen, were corrupt would it have been?).

Looking at the broader picture of football, penalties infrequently get awarded and yet we are expecting two in one half of football when 3 clubs received that total in 114 matches and Liverpool who, according to this forum, get favourable decisions received the grand total of three in 38 matches.

Do you with any seriousness think Liverpool never received similar contacts with opponents over the course of 38 games last season in additions to the three pens awarded?

To me that highlights that there is a huge disparity between what fans think is a pen and what meets the threshold for a pen for a referee.

Last season Burnley, West Brom and Swansea, received 2 pens between them over the course of 114 games do you think if you asked their fans that would be an accurate reflection? Of course it wouldnt be.

What would concern me is if City were not receiving their fair share, and as we have received more pens than any club in the past 8 years it would evidence that is not the case.

Regardless of anything if there is a foul in the penalty area on the attacking player it's a penalty..if there are 20 fouls on attacking players in the penalty area in the same game they are all penalties.
Just by you saying that teams shouldn't expect to get two penalties in a game is incorrect.
Regardless of which team it is if they are fouled in the opponent's penalty area it's a foul..hence a penalty.
Doesn't matter how many times it occurs each and every foul is a foul and should be awarded.

What struck me about the Wolves' goal was that the commentator mentioned, after only one time of seeing it, it looked like it came off his hand/arm. How the fuck the linesman didn't then I don't know.

Apparently if you criticise the linesman you're a conspiracy theorist.
