Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

Taylor taken off whistle duties this weekend. Despite that thumbnail, the link is to the Taylor Story.

Caught the trailing leg of Antonio, nowhere near the ball. Antonio might have left his leg there but not shocked to see a booking. It could be deemed cynical trying to stop a break, albeit very far back. I think once you go to ground you leave the referee with a decision to make.

He booked Emerson, Kilman and Rodriguez for similar tackles (cynical nature) if not softer in some cases slightly further up the pitch.
Sorry to disagree with you but giving the referee a decision to make because you’ve gone to ground is utter shite brought into the game by so called pundits. It goes alongside he’s put a hand on your shoulder so you’re entitled to go down, or he dangled a leg so you are entitled to make contact. It’s shit and always will be.

Maybe the terminology isn't great but I wasn't shocked to see De Bruyne booked, he was nowhere near the ball.

Oliver v Arsenal, thank god it was not Taylor but he has been stood down this weekend. Just sums up whats wrong with the PL and PGMOL when they dont question his very strange performance but looking into online abuse:

Anthony Taylor will not referee a Premier League game this weekend after receiving abuse on social media following Chelsea's 1-0 win at Bournemouth.

Taylor showed a Premier League record 14 yellow cards to players at Vitality Stadium.

The Premier League has launched an investigation following online abuse directed at the official in the aftermath.

Taylor will act as fourth official this weekend when Southampton host Ipswich on Saturday and Nottingham Forest travel to Brighton on Sunday

Feels like OliVAR gets every game we play the tarquins. I wonder if he will apologise to arsenal by sending kova off this time?
