Referees/Officials

The Telegraph article doesn't really say he's been removed as a result of a series of mistakes, although it's written to make it read like that. Italics are direct quotes - hope this is ok.

Dean and PGMOL "have agreed between them that the official should be taken out of the spotlight".

Discussions "over the last week that he would benefit from a series of lower profile matches after errors in some big games broadcast live on television".

"The select group referees take charge of 12 games in each round of fixtures which means that, as a matter of course, two will be in charge of games in any of the three Football League divisions. This is a usually regarded by players, managers and fans as a demotion but strictly speaking it falls within the remit of any select group referee."

They then list the mistakes.

Since the WHU match "Dean has been moved to the lower profile FA Cup tie between Spurs and Aston Villa and then, last weekend, Sunderland’s home defeat by Stoke City".

"Last season Dean refereed three Championship games and the League One fixture in February between Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United."

So it's not unusual for it to happen - 2 refs do non-PL matches every week (roughly). He did 4 last season, this is his 2nd this season.
I think this article is deeply unhelpful, as there is no basis for the suggestion that he was 'moved' and the 'lower profile' bit is there to imply it was as a result, but without any evidence.

. . . as a result of a series of mistakes

Isn't it a calming moment for us City fans to know that the FArce, by stint of not shoving Taylor or Mason down to the matches at Hough End following the shambles they perpetrated at The Etihad, thought there weren't any 'mistakes' by said duo. Nice to know that we witnessed a couple of strong refs ploughing an 'experienced' furrow for our delectation and delight!

City should make a list of mistakes the refs have done in our games and forward it to Mike "the K.unt" Riley.

He'd have to be very careful in how he replied to City's allegations. He couldn't say that they were mistakes, could he, because that would mean that he would have to demote them, too.
But then again, he definitely couldn't say that they that they weren't mistakes, as that would give the game away!

Get on with it, City.

Why pick on him? What about Taylor? What about Mason? And what about Oliver in the rags game?

Because if they demoted every one who had fucked up , they would have no refs left !

Their officials collectively are inept / corrupt judging by the " off-side goals " which the Rags have had allowed recently, not to mention the fouls by Imrahimovic , Fellaini, Pogba, Rooney at all which have gone unpunished.

The FA are the guilty party, and regularly ignore such blatant displays of total ineptitude, bias and / or corrupt officiating . They also do not respond to complaints about their officials but jump on players ( sagna being the example ) who correctly call out their officals.

There should be a major investigation of the FA but it will not happen .

Hasn't he reffed a game since?
He did the Spurs/Villa cup tie and lost it a bit there after Villa fans started singing he's a spurs fan so he went out his way to prove otherwise. Prompting the claret and blues to sing "Fuck that he's a villa fan!"
