Refugee crisis

what a life - fleeing from bombs, rape and torture , struggling to survive, treacherous journey over sea and walking in extreme conditions, met by border police refusing to be let in, pepper sprayed, surrounded by other desperate people and then having to deal with a very large minority that would rather them 'f*ck off back to where they come from ''

no women and children in pitched battles with tear gas chucking Hungarian police shocker!

they were there though.

There is a bit of a back story coming out now that whilst a good percentage are Syrians fleeing the war there there is also a fair percentage if economic refugees particularly from the Levant posing as Syrians it's all very confusing

I wasnt going to add to this thread and some of you will wish i hadnt, but i am ashamed that australia has agreed to accept 12,000 of these refugees.
Everyone knows the policy that Australia has on people seeking asylum or illegal immigrants, and i will use the correct term unlike the former leaders us of a disgraceful term in "Boat People".
Its not that my heart isnt in the right place, nor am i shallow, but there is 1500 asylum seekers sat in disgusting conditions and being treated worse than stray dogs at the moment and this is all because of the Abbott government.
Fathers and Mothers, Elderly and Children, that braved wicked seas in fishing boats that are basically held together by string.
They have then been shipped to these centres where you would not allow a refugee to inhabit and have been held for 18 months and longer.
I think its disgusting that the attention has been taken away from these maximum security "prisons" to ensure these refugees get a safe passage into the country.
Having worked for a leading humanitarian charity in this country, the stories that you would read through google or any other news agency is very real and people are being treated the same way the Americans treated Iraqi prisoners all those years ago.
Its an awful situation.
Maybe this should be helped first

hungarian police using force to try and move the refugees away from the border. one thing I'm noticing is that the majority of the refugees appear to be young males... barely any women and children there ( going off tv pics)
You must be watching dif pictures to me then as I've seen thousands of women and children crying out for help
I'd like to think our shithouse of a leader will intervene and help out, maybe even take the burden off some of these country's and open our doors to a fair few of them, Like now!

How many do you propose?
How about some of the richer Arab nations taking a quota.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar. Zero taken in.

That is undeniably true, but shouldn't we, the British, hold ourselves to the highest standards, not the lowest? Should we not measure ourselves by how well we act, not by how poorly others act?

It's the amount and the organisation of it all everyone knew this was going to happen especially when the Germans foolishly said their doors were open, they are as much to blame for this what did they expect, it should have been structured with well financed and equipped camps and then taken from there, the problem is it has become a free for all with many economic migrants seeing this as an opportunity to get into Europe

Presume this is over the refugee crisis

The unrest in Germany is never shown on the BBC and other news channels.
