Refugee crisis

I said on here at the time that I didn't think Merkel realised the consequencies of that daft statement. Well she does now. Borders and fences going up everywhere, shengen down the pan, army deployed on Hungarian border. What a fucking mess.

I think a few of us could see that happening, it was as plain as the noses on their faces, just surprised that the German authorities seemed oblivious to it all.

Any more far fetched as someone saying to you on 09/10/01, that terrorists could hijack planes and fly them into the Twin towers?

It's far-fetched because there was nothing to stop terrorists from coming here 1,2,3,4,5+ years ago yet what has happened? The terrorists that did the 7/7 bombings were British, the nutters who killed Lee Rigby were British, why should we fear refugees when our own citizens are responsible for all of the terrorist incidents committed here in the last decade?

it was absolutely ridiculous of her and the german government to just let millions of syrians potentially come to europe, she did not think of the consequences. In munich thousands of refugees are no homeless because they dont have enough housing or resources. far right parties are gaining ground now and most countries do not want to be told that they should be taking in x amount of refugees. a complete u turn from germany ...

Only very recently did the UK take out 2 ISIS activists in Syria who were planning an attack in Britain. Fortunately, we have a decent intelligence agency that stops the majority of terrorist events before they happen. If you want to believe that such an event is unlikely because there is no recent precedent then fair enough, but I think you're being naive.

Yes, because there are much easier ways for ISIS to commit atrocities in the UK than by smuggling over foreign terrorists in little dinghies that have a remarkable propensity to sink.

Our intelligence services are the best in the world but they did not stop nor foil an attack, it just did not happen, the drone attack killed the two blokes after the planned event did not come off and we intercepted a phone call giving away their location. Also bare in mind these blokes were obviously well known to us or why else would we be listening, put it this way it's not like we'd miss them in a refugee queue. I'm not disputing people are planning attacks against us but I seriously doubt part of their plan is to risk being captured trying to enter the UK... I mean why bother? Why can't they just leave Syria, board a plane to Turkey and enter the usual way? If they are known and can't do that then surely they aren't likely to fair well once the UKBA goes over their application for asylum?

My previous comment was just that it seems illogical and strange that people are more worried about refugees than possibly their next door neighbors if you take into account the last decade of terrorism in this country. I'm more inclined to think that some are not happy about immigration and ISIS being amongst refugees is just another perfect excuse to support the argument against it all.
