Religion

Do not think that wrong doers worry about an imaginary friend to the febble minded, being aware or unaware. For he does not exist in any realm, apart from inside the skulls of simpletons and fools.

Pretty much every single person who is a contender for being the smartest human being who was ever born was religious. Isaac Newton is my choice for being the smartest human being ever and he was deeply religious. Euler was religious. Pasteur, Leibniz, Tesla, Shakespeare, Da Vinci, Copernicus, Aristotle, and Bose were all religious.

Quite an achievement of yours to put yourself intellectually above these people and call them feeble minded simpletons and fools.

Hmm, I find the strident anti religion brigade a bit tedious but I do wonder how many of those mentioned would hold the same religious views if around nowadays

The number of clever people who believed moves the dial not a jot in making it true.

This isn't about truth (which you have absolutely no idea about by the way but we'll skip that as it's somewhat irrelevant), this is about you claiming that religious people are stupid because you don't believe the same thing that they do. I provided a list of people who are demonstrably not stupid, perhaps even as clever as you, as a direct counter to that idea. So that seems to put a bit of a hole in your argument.

The thing that gets me about religion is who ever the so called God is , they are so insecure that they demand you worship them.

Qur'an 14:82 - Moses said: "Were you to disbelieve, you and all those who live on earth, indeed, God is free of need and praiseworthy"

I dont have an issue with people believing. I have a problem.when what is in their made up books are expected to be adhered to by everyone else. Anyone can sit and talk about the great flood that didnt happen or the universe being created in 6 days and all the other fucking garbage in all of them. Fine, crack on. But, keep it to yourselves Please.
Reminds me of Hitchens when he said that he was more than happy for believers to have their toys and to play with them at home and hug them and share them with others who could come round to play with the toys.

"That's absolutely fine .. but they are not to make me play with these toys. I will not play with the toys"

So if moses said that and god is free of the need of praise and worship why do two of the abrahamic religions insit they need to convert people to their faith.

In esscence both christianity and Islam go against gods wishes to force religious worship upon people, you can tell people about the god which both faiths follow, but no person, family, or country should be made to follow this celestials rule or wants.

Spread th word and those that choose to worship it are subject to his smiting, those not interested should be free to do what they do in their own ways without any religious pressure upon them or judgement.

Is that the Christopher Hitchens who couldn’t stop telling people that he was anti religion. He must have hated people inflicting their views on him

Yes the very man and was considered to be a great orator and perhaps the most prominent opposer of religious doctrine in the 21st century.

Yes yes, I know who he was. Just hoping he didn't force people to listen to his views, would have been quite ironic what with all these religious types turning up at his door trying to make him believe in God.

There's perhaps a subtle but significant distinction to be drawn. I don't remember Hitch warning people they'd burn in everlasting hell in the event they didn't subscribe to his views.
