Remember Bradford 87 (yes 87)?

Interloper in main stand that day courtesy of tickets of friend living in bradford. Win lose or draw at dippers tmr is of little consequences in the bigger picture of where we are now. Having said that will be upset if we lose to the "koppites"

I remember reading an article - it might’ve been in the Sunday Times and I think it was the weekend after this game - which stated that at the time there were only 2 teams in the whole Football League pyramid who were regularly selling out their home games that season. One was Liverpool and the other was…..Bradford! That might seem strange to younger posters but attendances were very poor in the 80s compared to the present day and sell out crowds weren’t very common. United were getting the biggest crowds but most weeks they weren’t selling out.
These things mean nothing. The ground capacity can be the main reason a team sells out.

I remember this match well, I was a 20-year old studying at South Manchester Community College, living in bedsit land. I listened to the commentary on Piccadilly Radio, Bradford were doing well, we couldn't buy an away win and were a bit 'hit and miss' in the league at this stage... Paul Stewart hat-trick and am I right that after going 2-up, they pulled it back to 2-2 before we pulled away again for 4-2? Anyway it was the match that lit the 'blue touch-paper' that season, we suddenly couldn't stop scoring and the media were all over us for weeks after, with the 10-1 being the highlight of an impressive run that only ended with a home defeat to Chrystal Palace in December.
