Remembering Yaya!

Wow....just Wow.....so what if Yaya’s agent said one or two mean things?

Absolutely ZERO fucks given.

The man was above all ALL our recent legends on his day......ALL OF THEM.

When in the mood the perfect description of him was unplayable.

A beast, a monster, our hero, our behemoth, our go-to player, the ‘one’.

These players are paid to play football, not run a PR department.

Who’s to say that club and the hierarchy didn’t shaft him in some way once he was on the decline, shit happens.

But his God like status will remain forever in my eyes.

I mean, aside from hanging the club out to dry in public in 2014-15 angling for more money or a move, drink driving, reportedly cheating on his wife, accusing someone in public of being a racist without any evidence and then his agent gobbing off, yeah aside from all of that.

He had 3-4 years top of his game for us, Bell, Silva, Agüero, Kompany have all had 8+ top years. Not even same category of ‘legend’, despite how unplayable he was for a time.

One of the best midfielders in Premier league history.

He had everything, goals, assists, dribbling, physicality, leadership, passing, free kicks, and showed up in big games. Pure class.

Compare Luis Suarez and Zola for example; both absolutely unbelievable players in terms of talent and achievement. One is loved by football fans the world over and the other is a goofy, cheating, racist prick who nobody gives a fuck about. Why? Suarez is probably the better all round player as far as I'm concerned, he will never be a legend of the game though because he's not loved by fans because he's a bellend.

It's the same with our players, if you take off the blue tinted specs. To say Toure was a legend "before he joined" City is fucking ridiculous though, no player is a legend at 25/26.
No player is a legend at 25/26?? Says who?
Speak to Bury fc Fans ..ask them if Colin Bell is a club legend..you know the 19yr old teenager who captained their team before signing for City in1966 ,.( bury were relegated the season after he left so the teenager clearly left a void)
And fwiw..i think Phil Foden ..is already a City legend, for his amazing talent, honours won,amd the achievement of a local lad making First team football at City from the academy......Yaya at City,Bell at Bury and City ,Foden at City..all Legends....in my book.
All about opinions tho ;)

Stop being aggressive pal. This is a board for discussing different views.mind your manners...
Yaya Toure was a legend on the continent of Africa.....many years before he joined City.thats part of my point,if you take off your blue tinted specs...;)
Exasperation, not aggression. The profanity was purely used to illustrate that feeling. My blue tinted specs come in response to you saying "City fans" should have more respect for him, perfectly justified thank you :)

How he never won POTY between 2013-15 is beyond me. We have gripes about this and that off the field antics because it’s our club. The PFA etc shouldn’t have taken this into consideration when selecting POTY, it should be because of what he did out there on the field
@Jogon 127 sums Toure up to perfection "when in the mood", that comment from one of his biggest fanboys says everything you need to know, even if you do put the tin foil hat on and pretend the negative press never happened.

Truth is ‘when in the mood’ lasted 3 or 4 seasons. Let’s not rewrite history.

Game changer = Yaya
Truth is 'when in the mood' happened, his biggest fanboy has said it, twice.

I've never heard that about Kompany, Zabaleta, Silva, Aguero or Fernandinho strangely. Attitude and hardwork should be the bare minimum expected, sadly it wasn't with Toure, as you quite rightly say. Hence the 50/50 split of fans, even away from the off field activities.
