Silva won't be sold, It's an absurd thought ! Pep will get rid of some of the shit but the spine will remain for at least the first season or two.

David Silva took about two months to find his feet in the Pl after the 2010 world cup and he and Ya Ya have been pure genius and joy since. Ya Ya is clearly feeling the effects of the years and recently David has been unrecognisable as the genius that destroyed PL defences. I have to be careful that I don't view both players through a glow of immense gratitude for their contribution to our club's development, but the man to make the decisions is, thankfully Pep Guardiola. We've wanted him long enough and the club has finally got him and no-one can be trusted more than he can with the task of carrying on the building of the next truly great City side, begun last summer with Sterling and De Bruyne. If he decides he has only room for one of David or Ya Ya I'll argue that he knows best: if he decides there's room for neither I'll accept it. But they might just be the usual rubbish rumours.

He's been mediocre for three months, was exceptional for the first two and knowing what he's capable of, I'd be buzzing if we were signing somebody with his ability.
I disagree that his best days are behind him. He's 30, doesn't rely on pace and plays in a way that could see him have another 2 years at the very top if his ankle problems can be sorted.
You don't have to build an elite team around him, you do have to include him if you want your team to be elite though.

So do you feel his best days are in front of him then? He's 30, with a clearly injured ankle. Best of luck with that one mate.

Also having only '2 years at the very top' as you put it is not as attractive a proposition as bringing in someone who has a lot longer at the top of their / our game to offer.

He's been included in our team for years now and we haven't even been close to being 'elite'.
