Respect for Referees

No respect to the FA for their rule that they can't review a decision a referee has already dealt with - unless it's a City player (Ben Thatcher).

It would make it a little more palatable if they came out and said they had made a mistake or two, but that won't happen. Just silence from the ref and the FA, and the whole footballing world sympathising with us.

The guy who was discussing the Figueroa handball yesterday - at your next referees meeting, please assess Dowd's penalty decisions from yesterday and let us know how the vote goes.

Respect has to be earned and goes both ways. To get it you have to give it and that is just not happening in todays game.

The officials, I refuse to call them referees because that is an unbiased, trustworthy position for people of integrity, honesty and knowledge of the game, need to wake up, learn the words consistency and impartiality and then and only then will they get respect.

I don't think anyone is arsed that the refs get some decisions wrong. It's the game changing ones that piss everyone off. I would like the referees to come out after the game and say why they gave certain decisions. We may not like what they say but we could then draw a line under it.

It was the Kolarov yellow card that really did my head in last night, he was clearly the victim of the foul despite the dipper rolling around as if he was dying, utterly mystifying. To an extent I can understand Dowd not seeing the Adam/Dzeko incident in real time, it wasn't that easy to spot.

Actually the way Mason refereed the Liverpool game is how I want a ref to ref let the game flow

no real problem with that, except he says he saw Johnson`s tackle on Lescott, (thereby preventing The FA from taking retrospective action). So how come he wasnt demoted for failing to uphold the FA`s policy on "2 footed tackles", how do you equate that with Kompany`s days earlier?

Referees are human and therefore prone to errors, but in the game today there shouldnt be any errors...All other top sports dont have so why should the biggest and best game still suffer.

Zero for Chris Foy, who made an honest decision (erroneous), when he decide that Vinnie`s challenge was reckless / uncontrolled / dangerous etc. He had the chance , after the game to review it, (and he must have seen it again), and despite being under pressure not to, should have had the courage to admit it was none of the above, was worthy of no more than a yellow at worst, and the red card was withdrawn.
Completely agree and cost us the game.

Zero for Lee Mason who IMO failed to properly see Johnson`s challenge on Lescott. Any referee , given the prevailing climate who fails to issue a red for that challenge should not be refereeing. Given the opportunity to review it in his report he lied and said he had seen it. Either a liar or incompetent beyond belief.
Completely agree.

Zero for Howard Webb, who IMO had a half decent game, and did indeed see Mario`s challenge clearly (at normal speed) and deemed no action necessary, save calling for the trainer. He then lied , following an extensive media witchhunt (led by that fine upstanding paragon of virtue, and model citizen Redknapp), and claimed he had not seen the challenge, and effectively issued a retrospective red card. Coward and liar.Should have had the guts to tell it how he saw it.
Completely agree and the media should be ashamed of the part they played.

Zero for Twattenberg who lied over Adebayor`s booking v Arsenal, saying it was for timewasting, and lied again, that he hadnt seen Ade`s stamp (from about 6 feet away), spineless *rselicking, self promoting cnut who only told the FA what they, (and the Media) wanted to hear, and to hell with the truth. Cheat who claimed to have seen Shrek elbow the Wigan player, and deal with it on pitch, with a pat on the head. Zero for the incompetent / corrupt performance at Chelsea, (and probably Fulham as well).
Completely agree - and don't forget he ruined the home match against Arsenal with the Boyata dismissal when their player had clearly lost control of the ball, his failure to award a clear penalty at Chelsea cost us the game.

Zero for Phil Dowd, unless he has the balls to issue an apology, and admit he got both penalties wrong. Sympathy for only having a split second to make a difficult, real time decision. Unfortunately the 4th official who must have seen the error in his decisions, is not allowed to help him (genuine question, who was 4th official?). To err is to be human, but it takes a man to recognise this and apologise.
Think the Richards incident was a genuine mistake and with Dzeko the Liverpool player was already committed to kicking the ball before Edin stuck out his leg. Also Liverpool deserved to win.

Backdated zero for Graham "*rsehole Poll, who in Mondays Daily Fail, criticised Webb, for "following the Ball" and not watching Mario. "Should have kept an eye on him because of his reputation. Effectively admitted he refereed on reputations.
Mr. "Three Yellow Cards" should keep his mouth shut.

How can i come to this unequivocal conclusion? Simple..............
As i stated in an earlier thread (now moved to General Forum) Video Technology. I now clearly see them for what they are

A bunch of self serving incompetents, who lie to please their bosses and the Media in general, as and when it suits.

ps I exclude Johnboy Walton from the above.Contrary to popular belief he is neither a Scouser (Red or Blue) by birth or by favour. He is in fact from Long Buckby, a village about 5 miles from where i have spent all of my life. Friends who knew him, when he was growing up locally in Kingsthorpe, Northampton, and before he started officiating in the local leagues, know him for what he is (and always was................)
Dont be surprised now.............................
A Rag...................................................
So you know what to expect come tuesday, and if he ever gets given a derby against United, dont be surprised if it becomes the first ever Premier League game to be abandoned due to City retaining insufficient players on the pitch

I am waiting for our turn to get a run of dodgy decisions that assist us, but I am not holding my breath.

The only ref I've ever truly believed to be bent is Walton, I believe others are swayed by pressure from the media but completely understand why. If an attacker is chasing a defender and the defender goes down the ref will always give a free kick because if he doesn't and it leads to a goal but tv replays show there was any form of contact he'll get ripped to shreds the next day by the media whereas no-one will make a fuss about him giving a free kick to the defender for a dive. It's wrong but the FA allow the likes of Redknapp and Ferguson to say what they like and the media jump on it. For the same reasons teams like Liverpool and Spurs that are liked within media circles will get the benefit of the doubt. At the end of the day referees are human and they choose the easy way out because their bosses don't defend them for doing the correct, but unpopular, things and there's no comeuppance for doing the wrong but popular thing.

I'm getting really fed up of walking away from games talking about the referee but it's something we're going to have to deal with until we become media darlings. The way I now look at is that we think it's unfair that teams will get the benefit of the doubt in decisions against us, but they think it's unfair that we've got David Silva, Yaya Touré and Sergio Aguero.

We need to adopt a swivel mentality and fight through it. If the 'swings and roundabouts' theory is correct then we're due a very purple patch soon. Keep believing. We're the best team in this country and we will win the league.

You are absolutely correct on this one, what if he had issued a red - would it have been reviewed.

We are being shafted big time at present and the Officials and FA are getting away with it because we are getting zero support from the media or other football clubs.

We will have to adopt a siege mentality and prove to all and sundry just how good we are.
