I believe that technology in cricket has helped the umpires to get even better and cleared up some of the grey area's. I have tremendous respect for umpires who have to keep so focussed for such a long period and are on the whole proved, by technology, to have been right in the first instance.
Similar can be said of rugby referees, who are backed by their associations to use technology, even in the most obvious situations, so as to ensure mistakes are not made.
Whilst I have little sympathy with football referees, I believe the problem is The FA. With its holier than thou' our way or no way attitude.Right down to grass roots football, The FA is a cash generator, looking after people who cannot believe their luck at having such an untouchable job.
They are now trying to lure new young referee's into the game with offer of how much spends they can earn.
This is why The Respect campaign is a joke.
Unless change is made, I see it getting very much worse.
