Resting players against the rags

The game vs United is essentially pointless from tournament perspective, City have plenty of games to win the title. Pep isn't a defeatist unlike the majority in this thread, so he's going to rest key players to have better chance for 'remontada'. The stakes on City's win went from 1.6 to 2 after Wednesday result, so even bookies confirm it.

Football is 20% fitness and ability and 80% mental. Momentum is a massive portion of that 80%. Momentum works both ways, but it’s an awful lot more difficult to turn around a losing momentum than a winning one. Lose 2 games in a row and go out of the CL on Tuesday (which probability wise is likely) then go away to a spurs team high on confidence and winning momentum and we run the risk of ending the season champions, but by crawling over the line rather than being chest out and missing out on the chance of setting a massive psychological marker for the rest of the season and in to next.

“We’ve got one chance to do it in the Champions League,” the captain said. “In the Premier League we’ve got plenty of opportunities to do the job".

Nothing more to be said. We need to win to recover confidence to take into Tuesday. So a very strong squad please Pep. Probably not Kompany for obvious reasons but there you go.

Would be absolutely comical if we selected Foden, Diaz , Zinchenko and some other fringe players , and still beat the Rags , they would have nowhere to hide
Not likely that we would beat them with such a team they are not as shite as many on here seem to think. While Tuesday is not a dead rubber it is highly unlikely we can turn the tie around. Rotation should be kept to a bear minimum and lets have a real go at the rags win the title and then start dreaming of a miracle against the dippers.

I think who Klopp selects and rests tomorrow earlier in the day might have something to do with it ... if Klopp throws their derby and rests key players to keep going against us again, I think Pep would do the same ... however him playing his first team and then FatSam’s players kicking them about earlier and making sure another one or two are out of Tuesday would suit us just fine ...

Bluwhit has hinted dave won't be playing,,pep has lost his mind if he leaves dave and maybe kev out for a lost cause when we could win the league against the rags
