Retiring the Number 8 shirt?

I suspect the club will already be planning to give it a very prominent position on the exterior of the ground - Possibly replacing the existing CB photo.

'Retiring' football shirt numbers - Bloody stupid idea.

I didn't agree with 'retiring' the 23 shirt when MVF died, and still don't see any reason for any club to stop using any number. It's a pathetic tribute compared to actually naming something in someone's memory.

Retiring any number 1-11 seems daft to me 21 for dave would have probably been ok like we did when we retired the 23 for foe but for me 1-11 should be left alone. I know it would never happen now in the modern game but I’d love to see our lads lign up 1-11 maybe in a cup final I think it would be a nice touch

i think city should have a little CB imbedded in the number 8 shirt instead of retiring-the-number
that way in the future anybody wearing the shirt and number 8 will have CB to remind them of the king

Not for me as where do the club draw the line with regard to future number retirements? A stand named after The King means more than retiring the No.8.
