Just been the Wigan game with some mates who are Wigan fans, that Rooney assault was a disgrace Clattenburg just had a laugh with Rooney and took no action. The bloke really is a joke.

Not as though he doesn't have previous for this sort of assault.....this from a pre-season game....

Nowt will be done as it wasn't seen at the time. Retrospective bans are only given for much more violent crimes such as celebrating a goal (Adebayor....7 games!!!).

Adebayor was banned for standing on van persie's face. It had nothing to do with the celebration

Aye...of course.....my fail.

The 7 games came as he was later banned for a further 4 games for a sending off at Stoke.
This makes it worse then, as Rooney will inevitably face no such ban and it'll just go to enforce the belief that it's one rule for them, and one for everyone else.

From that link that Mcnair posted, it appears that the ref saw something and had a word with Rooney. I would suggest that he didn't see an elbow though, as it would definitely have been a red. It will be interesting to see what MOTD makes of it. I know i'm biased, but by Christ they have had some serious help from refs this season.

The 3 games United have won away from home are the ones where they should have had a player sent off.Nine points they gained from bent officials
