Rewriting history

I worked for 40+ years at various truck and van main dealers in the Greater Manchester area .
About 15 years ago I was pulled up by the service manager at a Ford Transit dealer for referring to people who work on the shop floor, repairing and servicing vehicles as mechanics.
I was told that henceforth I was to use the modern word and they were known as Technicians.
I replied that in my eyes they were all grease monkeys, and fucked off sharpish before he had chance to reply.
I was in the garage of a large bus depot in Leeds. It was full of greased up oily blokes and I was asked if I wanted 'a brew'. I said I'd have a black coffee, I was told they didn't use that phrase, it was a coffee without milk. I told him not to bother.

It’s nothing to do with ‘wokeness’ or ‘snowflakes’
Nobody campaigned for or demanded this
It’s naked commercial interest and greed from the publishers, pure and simple
But it suits the far right to dress this up as another front in the culture wars
This blog post explains it perfectly
PS Dahl really was the most horrible kind of shameless anti-semite as even his own foundation has accepted

First Dahl and now Fleming, really getting stupid now, its history it’s of it’s time, what next rewrite the bible? I watched Rocky last night and tbh I’d never noticed before Creed gets called a jig! It’s set in the 70s that’s how people talked and things should be learned from this not scrubbed because that means people won’t know what things were like in the past and how things were wrong.
It's just a reaction on the part of publishers in a publicity effort to remain relevant and sell more books. I don't know of anyone who would agree to not teach history in the sense of something that remains historical. If you change the words then it becomes something else which is the problem nowadays.

The hypocrisy is just ridiculous though because has anyone listened to the radio or watched a music video recently? It's still fine to watch or listen to songs about people stabbing each other or women getting their arses and tits out.

However yes you cannot read the words of a book which helps to teach kids the wrongs of the views from 100 years ago, god forbid. You can however listen to Eazy-G tell us how many people he's merked this week or another song about how big his knob is.

This stuff is probably why actual history won't be taught in 10 years time because people will be to scared to do so and all that will remain is the council approved dregs at the bottom. Other than that, hope, diversity and promise will be taught too despite the reality of the world being anything but that.

And we wonder why young people are so depressed, angry and confused?

Like your men?

Did his response give you a flat white?

Interesting point. Perhaps the publishers should just whack this on the front of Dahl and more kids will beg their parents to buy it for them.
