Rio Olympics

The sound quality is wank. Sounds like it's coming from a microphone inside the stadium instead of directly from the mixing desk.
I thought the same. Fucking awful, which is a shame, because it might be quite good if we could hear it.

The sound is working properly on the no commentary version on the red button. Someone's gonna get sacked in the morning.

Quite impressed with the Jimmy Hill tribute on that big hill outside the stadium. Didn't realise he was so popular over there.

"Catar" get a cheeky early slot. Clever thinking from them they'll be home and in bed before the countries with Q actually come out.

Wozniacki anyone? Danish flag bearer. I know she use to be with that rag golfer but they're not all perfect are they? Oh wait she supports the bin dippers nevermind.

This could be used as a quick version to rank the relative hotness of the people of the countries involved...

For example Egypt looked surprisingly good.

Good to see Nadal and Phelps on the flags, big names in sport who want that Olympic gold. Or in Phelps' case his 19th gold.

But wtf USA out before us, what is this Portuguese alphabet!

Nadal looked ancient as well. Seems to have aged 10 years since I last saw him.

Funny how the Yanks are tape delayed on the open ceremony as well. Only they wouldn't show such an event live.

Could be that time of the year again where the media have another revisit on the atrocities committed by the British Empire. Now, I'm off to watch Waterloo.

Well i lasted until Team GB arrived in the arena and caught up with the rest this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36993259

I thought it was a decent effort considering that the budget was a fraction of London's. Scaling back these ceremonies is no bad thing.

They really do need to sort out that athlete's parade though. I half expected to get up this morning to see the last few countries still making their way into the arena.

That's nothing new. While I love NBC's premier league coverage, they always butcher the olympics. Every 5 mins there was a commercial break. Thankfully I made use of my VPN and watched the stream on the bbc.

The road race is a good event to start. A sport with big names but I feel the event has more prestige than say the football gold medal or tennis gold medal.

Does anyone know roughly when it'll finish though? They mentioned six hours but then said it'd finish around 4pm UK time....
