Still few days to get rid of him, if not sale maybe give him on loan to Liv. Would serve to make this board so happy and who knows may miss penalty for them too.

Those players that are very good but are not playing well, at some point things tend to click and we forget in few weeks all our negative perceptions about them.

Another magnolia 6. All today proved was that he can only play down the right. He's out of his depth and it's standing out like a sore thumb.

The problem, IMO, with Mahrez, is that he doesn't fit our mold at winger......................................Mahrez has boatloads of talent (obviously) - it's up to Pep to figure out how to best leverage him in our system. Perhaps playing left wing isn't the best fit for him - at least in the way we currently play.

Yep
He played centrally pre-season and he seemed alright. He looked really good creatively in fact. I wonder if that's the long term goal, like with Bernardo?

Two good comments.

One of the hallmarks of Guardiola's coaching seems to be that some players get pinned out wide before they're allowed to play inside. I'll be very circumspect here in case I get asked for scientific evidence from one of the bots (I've lost my lab notes and the results of the Monte Carlo modeling I've been carrying out) but I, very tentatively, hold the opinion that players have to observe the zonal movement of the team until they understand it and the best place to see it from is out wide because they can look up and down the line and across the whole pitch. They're also close enough to get an earful for half the game at least. So, if they move into a wide zone and there are already two occupied wide zones, they can get a bollocking and told to move inside. Likewise if they're clogging up the inside channel instead of offering a pass in the wide zone. Pinning the new player out wide gives those decisions to another player who already knows the system.

On a basic level, Mahrez simply doesn't try to hit the byline enough on the outside and when he comes inside onto his left he has to do it quicker. Whether he'll ever fit in well remains to be seen.

One of the question marks over him is that he went to Leicester for peanuts from the French 2nd division and out of nowhere he (and they) had a phenomenal season. I was a bit surprised that we went for him at that price. But only a bit surprised.....Mangala.

Chelsea appear to have got Kante for half the price and he was an immediate success.

Er, I said it doesn't seem like he has made many friends in the dressing room. I think that leaves open an element of doubt as to what I said. I don't claim definitive insight. I could be way off beam. Who fucking knows. We're all just casting around for an explanation as to why he's been a bit hit and miss, and if he's a little isolated within the squad that could be a reason.

Why don't we have a Bluemoon rule that unless you're 100% sure about something and can back it up with incontrovertible evidence then you're not allowed to post ...
Better still, just post sensibly in the first instance - then again this is BM eh :)

We always pay a premium. Only over this season or so we have tended to walk away from ridiculous figures.
