Riyad Mahrez - 2018/2019 performances

He looked EXACTLY like Bernardo did this time last year.

He'll come good, but he may not be the best suited player against parked buses.
That's a very good comparison with Silvia.
Trouble is i think mahrez was supposed to be a solution to the parked bus. He is too predictable. The one time he went outside his man he put in his most dangerous cross.
I will say though, I don't think there is any doubt about his quality and he WILL come good, very good.

I’d like to see him play centrally alongside a Silva for a spell. I think he’s very gifted at slipping runners through but wasn’t surrounded by such an abundance of weapons (or possession) at Leicester. Curious to see what that would look like.

The only trouble with this comparison is, one of those players was new to the prem style of football and the other has already been voted player of the season once before, so if you were expecting one of them to bed in quicker and show their true form early on it would have been Mahrez, of course it would be idiotic to write him off after 5 minutes and he will get up to speed with Pep's methods sooner rather than later :)

Another poor performance for whatever the reason. We all know he`s got the abibilty.Just not happening for the lad right now.

I think he has been desperate for this move and is trying too hard to prove himself. We don't need him to be a showman like he was at Leicester as their best player, we need an end product.

Going from a counter attacking team who barely have the ball to a team that has 80% possession vs a team parked within 25 yards of their own goal. It'll take time to recalibrate his brain.

This is definitely the biggest problem he's having in adapting to City, he was used to having plenty of space to operate in at Leicester as they launched counter attacks to him and Vardy from deep in their own half, now he's often crowded out - he was being double-marked a lot of the time yesterday.
