Riyad Mahrez - 2018/2019 performances

He is looking a lot more comfortable in general play, he's putting in a lot of work defensively and in the first half he was linking up with KDB and Jesus in a way that was incredibly exciting, but IMO he's letting himself down by being selfish in the final third. Two or three times today he could have passed to give someone an easy goal, but decided to shoot and missed. Then to make things worse Jesus started doing it as if it was contagious.

Our attack is built on this camaraderie where everyone works together to put goals on a plate for each other, that's why half our goals are tap ins and Mahrez seemingly hasn't quite got the message yet. Sometimes it's nice to see him just take a shot early, and especially from distance, but he's not got the balance right yet IMO, still adapting from being the big fish at Leicester.

Just frustrating because otherwise he's settling in very nicely.

Indeed.Perhaps he was always the smokescreen......however,i still maintain he would have been a much better signing for us than what he has turned into at the swamp.It must be difficult to have too many regrets when youre on 500k/week......but from a career POV,choosing to go there was a monumental fuck up.

Mahrez,on the other hand,like the rest of us......is laughing his cock off :-)

I also find him a bit selfish. But I have no problem with taking more shots on from further out. Even if we only score a few, the awareness of the risk brings defenders out towards us, and could create a bit more space in behind.

The difference in his workrate last night compared to those first few games this season is massive. Brilliant to see how quickly he's got "it". Bodes really well for his development to becoming a really important player for us

I guess the beauty is that he gets in some cracking positions to score, however the tighter games will be when we need him to tally up.. it’s all well and good banging in screamers at 3-0 up, we need to see that at 0-0 or clawing at games

A good start to his city career nonetheless, room for big improvements though!

Our bench last nite was arguably as strong as it's ever been, apart from Music who is a rookie.
