Riyad Mahrez - 2018/2019 performances

I'm eating a slice of humble pie on Mahrez. I wasn't enthused when we signed him tbh. I thought he had a bit of an attitude problem and I couldn't see him fitting in. I'll gladly eat the whole pie at this rate. Getting better each game and I'm delighted.

His final passage of play is letting him down still, he slows down the fluidity by checking back too often imo..

Also I haven’t seen it mentioned, and he shouldn’t be exempt, but his fannying about late on which almost cost us, is exactly what Pep hates.... thankfully lamella is shite

I've just watched the clip 'From Every Angle' and when the ball first enters the Haringey penalty area Riyad is miles away. He must have outrun a greyhound to get to the point where he made contact with the ball! Stunning goal! We must be pretty much the best team in the PL for that kind of goal, if not Europe, no, the best in the world. City, City, the best team in the land and all the world! It's true!!

Who'd have thought that the penalty miss against Liverpool could be the making of him? I actually thought it may break him because at times prior to that, he'd looked lost in this team.

I like all of Sterling, Sane and Mahrez. I think Sane has the highest ceiling but perhaps the furthest to go. Sane, on form, is the most electrifying player we have so I like to see him in the team but Pep is the star of the show as far as I am concerned so I am happy to let him choose who starts.

We are just very fortunate to have all this talent in the squad.

Compare Mahrez now to Bernardo when he first joined. And then imagine how good Mahrez will be next season. He’s gonna tear it up.

Thought Mahrez was a bit selfish on his first few appearances , possibly trying to justify his fee , but he is becoming more of a team player with every game , so it looks like Pep is working his magic again , i reckon Pep could even make Carlton Pogba look an OK player given time.
