Not cutting the mustard for me.

Shows moments of exquisiteness and clearly has immense ability but just isn’t delivering anywhere near consistently enough.

Doesn’t influence games anywhere near enough and gives off a ‘not sure I’m really good enough to be here’ vibe imo.

The same vibe that many had about Bernado in his first season? Lets give him more than just a few games to adjust to our style would be my opinion

He's delivered in glimpses so far, expect more as he settles.

One thing I've been thinking though, if his presence means sterling has improved as much as he has, allows bernardo to concentrate on fulfilling a central role and pushes sane to fulfil his potential - would it be a bargain at £60m?

Still playing like he has to prove how good he is, his job is assists mainly so when in a position to pass it to someone in a better position pass it.

Spot on. We need him to be quick and decisive and to take the right option. Beating 3 players and trying to score is rarely that option. Beating a couple and squaring it tends to be effective with the speed our players get in support. Has also missed some chances he should be taking. His stats are impressive considering he is new to the side and we are a huge step up for him.

Bernardo did take time to settle in and Sterling and Sane are different players now to when they first worked under Pep so I am confident he will improve quickly and be effective over second half of the season. De Bruyne returning will help because he will give him one hell of a bollocking if he shoots and misses when De Bruyne is available in the box. You could see Kevin getting hugely frustrated on Tuesday by poor passing and decision making from fellow players. He will give them a rocket. He is literally Pep's man on the pitch and a huge leader for us. The media have vastly under appreciated how important he is for us from that perspective.

Too early to write him off. Aguero, Dinho, KDB, Otamendi, not to mention the young ones, all took time to adapt to Pepball - as talented and experienced as they are. In my view only David and Ederson really 'got it' from the go.

To try and give a balanced view, I feel that at his age Mahrez shouldn’t have to go through a Learning Curve. Signing players like Mahrez should be about ‘plug-and-play’. He isn’t that. The very top players come into the squad and hit the ground running. I think that people at City saw something in him that they liked and assumed he would fit in, hence the long term pursuit.

As a fan, when I watched Leicester games in their title winning year I didn’t see him as any more than a one trick pony: step over then cross the ball, whether the player was 30 or 3 yards away. He’s never played like a Pep player or City player since he’s arrived.

If you think of other players in Europe, they generally play to a set format. They’re very technical, disciplined and look to produce an end product from those first two points. Mahrez doesn’t fit the above description and I have no idea what his plan with the ball is. He looks like a 2018 version of Peter Beagrie: you have an expectation of what you want him to do, but it never happens.

He is not a Top player. He hasn’t delivered or made a difference in the big games where we need our top players to make an impact i.e. Liverpool, United. At the top level, he isn’t good enough.

Another point in this debate is if he’s in the squad or team, who isn’t? We pay £60m for an average player and completely ignore our youth. The one thing that I’ll always respect United for is their blueprint to teach youth players the philosophy of the club and bring them through. It hasn’t stopped them from winning trophies. As we all know that blueprint plan has worked extremely well over there.

Put simply, I don’t think Mahrez fits in and I can imagine a year or so from now that we’ll see him transferred to a different league. I don’t like to say this, but he’s quickly becoming the Elephant in the room and is becoming another Navas.

Do you concede that Pep plays a different style than Leicester? Of course for the naive he should land running, but in the real world he has to settle in with many changes to absorb and adapt to. I trust when he does get you to eat humble pie, you will be the first on here to acknowledge
