Indeed, his snake of an agent insisted he retracted his previously issued transfer request (twice) in order that he receive a payment from Leicester as if his previous two attempts to get a transfer didn’t actually happen (some sort of Ewing in the shower moment).

So, he’s clearly not that desperate to move just to play football - the dirty money side - to which he isn’t entitled - raises its ugly head.

Why is he not entitled to a loyalty payment?

He asked to leave and Leicester said no. He retracted his request and stayed at the club.

Now he seems to be leaving on Leicester’s terms.

It’s very easy to always blame the player in situations like this but Mahrez has wanted to leave Leicester for the past 2 seasons now and they have refused to let him go. He’ll no doubt think he is entitled to a payment for not being allowed to leave.

I agree. I've felt for him in previous windows when we were not involved. it's not so much the money, but the ambition. Still he should not have extended his contract without inserting clauses protecting his freedom to move

Well if it is between him and the club he knows how to resolve the matter very quickly. No doubt been told, Pep would like new players in by 9th July so this will be interesting to see how much he wants to join us. Didnt something similar happen with Fernandhino transfer?
