Robbie to Barca done deal apparently ??

There's not a single player in our team who would not take an equivalent contract from Barcelona.

There aren't many players in the whole PRemier League who wouldn't.

This debate is not about whether Robinho wants to go because there is no doubt at all that he would. His form has been patchy for us and I don't think he's been that happy here.

The debate is whether it's a problem for city if he leaves. If he's replaced with quality I think it will improve us.

Well A) was in my answer to be honest. It would take 50 years of on and off success, or us being constantly in the top 2 and winning trophies for us to be anywhere near to catching them up. However if we're doing that in this league the liklihood is they will still be doing it in their league too. Also whether people like to admit it or not, the climate will always play a major factor in where players go, especially with Barca more than likely being able to offer the same contracts, (if not better due to the tax laws), to the TOP players as what we will be able to offer. Barcalona will always be in more advantageous position than we will be, and will always be held in higher regard than we will be because another thing is that before we can be on a level with Barcelona in peoples eyes, we have to catch up, matcch and surpass those over the road, and even that, (when you look at the way they are held in many a countries eyes), appears a long, daunting process. Ok there's every chance we might pip united to the league and cups over the next few years, but that will mean nothing in the eyes of world football until united are where we once were, and the liklihood of that happening is remote, too. As for B), ok maybe that wasn't the way to put it so I hold my hands up on that one, other than the fact people will see our success as bought, rather than 'earned' like Barca's will always be deemed as. Hope you see where i'm coming from pal.

My point is this mate. History is something that can/will be built by any club that experiences some regular tangible success. The reality is that Barca, while currently being the worlds best club, only started their current run of success in the very early 90's. Im not sure they even won the CL before then but i may be wrong on that one. Real Madird were always the No1 club pre then.

My point is that a prolonged period of City success will automatically see our stature in world club football rise and along with that comes the trappings of the worlds elite players. There are too many elite players to have them all playing for one club so i can certainly see City being one of the few clubs that can attract the very best. It always takes money to start a good run of success and build the said history, something that we have in abundance and while i agree it will take a while to build to the very pinnacle, we now have all the tools to get there. Barca, like any club, will only be there while they have success.

Good point well made. You do see what I mean though when I say Barca are 'more than a club'? I don't think we will or can ever be that, what with those over the way and their history. Plus like I said earlier, our success which I have no doubt will coime eventually, will also be more than likely being matched by Barca's continued success in their league and their time in Europe, so it will be very hard to catch them to them to the point where people mention their word and the word of Man City in the same breath. Just my opinion like.

We are in a similar positition to Chelsea 7 or 8 years ago. They have no where near the stature of Barca.

Look at the list as long as your arm of truly great footalling icons that have turned out for Barca over the years. Then there is the polical aspect and what it stands for in Catalunya and the rest of spain, the role it played in the Franco reign etc. The iconic Nou Camp stadium.

It would take 50 years of sustained success, controversy, style of football, breed of footballer etc to get to near them. They are more than a football club.

A City source? Lol...enough said...

Might aswell write it in the sun aswell, they're used to coming up with City sources in articles...
