Robinho is the reason Adebayor, Tevez, Barry, Lescott, Given ect are all here.

I would be gutted, no devastated if he went.

Of course he isn't. The reason they are here is that they were offered great contracts and were promised that City have loads of money and will build a great team.

A great post. If City can get Yaya Toure and 10 million for Robinho and then bring in Ribery then it would be a great bit of work. There is no chance of City getting Iniesta or Xavi.

I don't get the YAYA toure posts. Where is he going to fit in, and at who'sd expense?

Well the way I see it is that Yaya is the best defensive midfielder in the world and he can play as a box to box man and at centre half.

He is better than what we already have so I would take him. I agree with previous posters in that we should be looking to take one of Barca's players rather than just cash and Xavi Iniesta Messi Ibrahimavoic etc are not going to be let go or want to come.

HAHAH!!! Looks like Immaculate Pasta's comments went down as quickly as Monica Lewinsky! I'm sure that when Given was languishing in the joke that is Newcastle and we came knocking, the first thing he thought was 'hmmmm, not sure I want to leave this sinking ship where this fat twat is runing the club i've played for for 13 years..... oh hang on, they have Robinho!!!' Likewise with Lescott at Everton, (though not escaping a joke of a club). As for Adebayor and Tevez, i'm sure the money on offer entered their heads before the prospect of playing alongside Robinho..

Anyone noticed how we have denied this Robbie business but as of yet not denied any of the Ribbery rumblings?

I accept we're not going to comment on every player we're linked with but Ribbery would be a huge coup for the club hence a big media circus regarding any bid.

EXACTLY!!!! Too many doom-mongers on here. The way it looks, the way the fee is almost what we paid etc, its as though Robbie just wants to go back to Spain. Here we have two options, we either keep him and have an unhappy player on out hands, or we be amicable and let him go on the proviso we get more or less what we paid. Then what we do is blow a seconds worth of fuel on Ribery, meaning Robbie is happy, Ribery is happy, Barca are happy and City are happy. Reading many, many posts on here I think people forget exactly who we are compared to Barcelona, and if there are people who have forgotten that, let me tell you that currently we are NOTHING compared to Barca, and the liklihood is will never will be, whether we win the CL or not. Barca are more than a club and money or no money if Barca or City are the choices on a players future, Barca will more than likely win as long as any of us are alive. Its the way it should be, too.

Look mate, no-one loves City more than me, as everyone will also quite rightly claim. If you know anything about football you should not need me to explain why Barcelona and City are infinite galaxy's apart right now. I'm really hoping you are not using our friendly victory to ask why I am saying this, however i'm sure your clever enough not to be thinking that. Barcelona, like Madrid, are one of only 3 clubs who people perceive to be more than a football club. Let me put it this way, you are a neutral and you are offered the chance of a tour around the Camp Nou and all its glorious history, trophies and enormous presence, or you are offered the chance to walk round COMS. I'm sorry mate, but the Juan Gamper trophy is not going to sway that neutral to take the punt on a walk round COMS instead of the Camp Nou. Barca will be much bigger, much better, have much more history and presence than we ever will have, and that is why the best players want to play there.

Thats a lot of work there mate without answering my questions.

I am well aware of the vast differences between Barca and City right now.

I am in complete disagreement with you in that a) the likelihood is we never will be as good/big/attractive as them, and even more so b) thats how it should be too?

COM's is miles better than the Nou Camp and we have Thomas Cook trophies that they will never have.

pigeonho ala 606 i am also very interested in your "thats how it should be" comment

and why you think that way

Well A) was in my answer to be honest. It would take 50 years of on and off success, or us being constantly in the top 2 and winning trophies for us to be anywhere near to catching them up. However if we're doing that in this league the liklihood is they will still be doing it in their league too. Also whether people like to admit it or not, the climate will always play a major factor in where players go, especially with Barca more than likely being able to offer the same contracts, (if not better due to the tax laws), to the TOP players as what we will be able to offer. Barcalona will always be in more advantageous position than we will be, and will always be held in higher regard than we will be because another thing is that before we can be on a level with Barcelona in peoples eyes, we have to catch up, matcch and surpass those over the road, and even that, (when you look at the way they are held in many a countries eyes), appears a long, daunting process. Ok there's every chance we might pip united to the league and cups over the next few years, but that will mean nothing in the eyes of world football until united are where we once were, and the liklihood of that happening is remote, too. As for B), ok maybe that wasn't the way to put it so I hold my hands up on that one, other than the fact people will see our success as bought, rather than 'earned' like Barca's will always be deemed as. Hope you see where i'm coming from pal.
