Arsenal are prepared to sell him unlike last season with Nasri when they went on a panic buy on the final transfer day. Buying Podolski and Giroud has to be preparation for RvP leaving, although they did need strengthening up front as Bendtner, Gervinho & Chamakh are all not good enough for a Top 4 side.

I think if RvP had been injured (or gone on a dry spell) for a few weeks they'd have easily finished behind Spurs.

I doubt Podolski will have more of an impact on the PL than Chamakh... Very mediocre in the Euros and seems to have lost quite a bit of pace.
I'm glad Arsenal bought him!

agreed - and over his career he seems to have generally performed better in inetrnational than club football (although some clever sod will doubtless now prove me wrong with statistics)

I spoke with an Arse business associate today. He says Juve have made a 25 mill bid for Van Persie and the board are likely to accept as he wont re sign?
Not claiming to be ITK (unless this happens !!!!) but I asked what he thought of a City bid. He states that they have a 'Wall of Fame' at the Emirates and he has already stated his desire to be up there. If he signed for us/any english team they wont do it. As i say just pasing what he said on.

If RVP's sold, the fanbase's gonna implode.

"Robin van P£r$ie - You sold out" banners at the Library next season.

One thing is for sure, I strongly doubt even Podolski and Giroud combined will outscore RVP's previous tally next season if Arsenal sell RVP.

Lost count at the number of times Wenger has sold the clubs star player always at a profit and then goes and find other unknowns who in couple of years will be the talk of the Gooners only for them to be sold. It is what he does.

Anelka, Henry, etc.,

From Sky:

Arsene Wenger has reiterated that Robin van Persie will stay at Arsenal and sees no reason why the striker would want to join Juventus.

Van Persie only has 12 months remaining on his contract and Wenger had previously been hoping to resolve his captain's future before Euro 2012.

An agreement was not reached before Van Persie headed off on Netherlands duty and there is continued speculation that he will leave Emirates Stadium this summer.

Premier League champions Manchester City have been linked with last season's top scorer, but the 28-year-old's father recently stated it is 'impossible' for him to join one of Arsenal's domestic rivals.

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been mooted as admirers of Van Persie, but reports have claimed Juventus hold the strongest interest in the player.

The Serie A champions are aiming to sign a high-profile striker ahead of next season, but Wenger does not expect Van Persie to head to Italy.

"He will stay at Arsenal," Wenger told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

"There is no reason why a top player, a big champion would want a move to Serie A - in terms of the prestige of the league, the level of play or financial considerations.

"If he moves there, I will buy you a caramello."

Arsene Wenger last night admitted Arsenal "can no longer be called a big club" if they sell Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

"Imagine the worst situation - we lose Fabregas and Nasri - you cannot convince people you are ambitious after that," he said.

"And even if you lose Nasri, to find the same quality player, you have to spend again the same amount of money. Because you cannot say, you lose the player and you do not replace him.

"I believe for us it is important the message we give out. For example, you talk about Fabregas leaving, Nasri leaving.

"If you give that message out, you cannot pretend you are a big club, because a big club first of all holds onto its big players and gives a message out to all the other big clubs that they just cannot come in and take away from you.

"We worked very hard with these players for years to develop them, and now it's a time for us to keep them together."

Wenger, speaking at the start of Arsenal's Far East pre-season tour, said Nasri will "definitely" stay despite interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Inter Milan.

The Gunners will risk Nasri running down his contract, which has just a year to run, but Wenger is also confident the player will sign a new deal.

He also insisted they have not given up hope of keeping Fabregas out of the clutches of Barcelona and branded the Europan champions' president Sandro Rosell "disrespectful" over their pursuit of the Arsenal captain.

Fabregas, who has missed the trip to the Far East because of a hamstring injury, resumed full training yesterday and Wenger admitted he only wants him to stay if he is fully committed to Arsenal.

Wenger was also upset that Rosell claimed Fabregas was worth less this summer than 12 months ago.

Arsenal have already knocked back two offers of £27m and £34m. Barcelona will have to go closer to £40m to get their man.

"That is disrespectful to Cesc," said Wenger. "I rate Cesc so highly. For me, he is top, top world class, certainly in the top five midfield players in the world.

"For us, it's not a question of money. It is a question of Cesc wanting to be with us. And I think he is torn because he loves the club deeply.

"We will fight until the last second to keep him.

"I think Cesc has always been torn between his love for Arsenal, that I feel is really genuine, and, as well - and what you can understand -the desire to play for the biggest team in the world. I think both exist in his head.

"I am confident, because I hope he will see that there will be no greater achievement for him in his life than to lead this team to success and that it will not be the right period for him to leave."

If he leaves he will go to Juve, have said this repeatedly on this thread.

This. Or maybe Barcelona will be in the mix? They have a good history of working with Dutch players and could really use a striker considering Villa's state and unpredictable future.
