Derksen revealed a complete lack of team spirit from the core of the Netherlands squad, with stars such as Van der Wiel, Arjen Robben, Van der Vaart, Huntelaar, Afellay and Van Persie all a poisonous presence within the group. Of the big-name players, only Sneijder escaped criticism, with the Inter midfielder apparently swimming against the tide in an attempt to promote a happy and healthy mood in the camp.
I would rather have Sneijder than RVP.

Inter has been a mess since Mou left.

Van Persie, whose Arsenal contract expires at the end of next season, has so far resisted attempts by the London club to extend his current deal and is aware that he remains Roberto Mancini’s number one target this summer.

City have yet to lodge a bid with Arsenal for Van Persie, with the Premier League champions reluctant to offer more than £20 million because of the player’s age – he is 29 in August – and his dwindling contract.

Van Persie, currently on holiday in the Caribbean, is expected to join his team-mates on Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia.

But the player is rumoured to have studied properties in the Cheshire area and City are confident that they can secure his services if they move swiftly to thwart rival interest from Barcelona and Italian champions Juventus.

City manager Mancini is determined to avoid a similar scenario to last summer when the club missed out on primary target Alexis Sanchez to Barcelona before becoming embroiled in a protracted, but ultimately successful, pursuit of Samir Nasri from Arsenal.

Mancini has already seen City fail to land Eden Hazard from Lille this summer, with Chelsea winning the race for the Belgian playmaker.

But the Italian believes that City are in a strong position to tempt Van Persie to the Etihad Stadium having won the title last season, and he has instructed football administrator Brian Marwood to make the Dutch striker a priority.

City are due to play Arsenal in a friendly in Beijing on July 27, opening up the possibility of a frosty atmosphere between the two clubs if Van Persie’s future still remains unresolved.

Mancini has been told, however, that he must trim his squad before City make substantial investments in the transfer market this summer.

Out-of-favour players such as Wayne Bridge, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz remain on the wage bill and earning salaries that have made them unattractive to potential buyers.

The future of Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko is also in doubt, with Bayern Munich keen to sign the former Wolfsburg striker, who cost City £27 million in January 2011.

Mario Balotelli is another player with an uncertain future at the Etihad, but the Italian is now expected to stay at the club this summer.

Arsenal braced for Manchester City bid for unsettled Van Persie

Manchester City will step up their pursuit of Arsenal's Robin van Persie now that Holland are out of Euro 2012.

Despite Arsenal's reluctance to lose yet another player to City, it is understood that coach Roberto Mancini is still determined to land the Dutch international.
On his way: Will Robin van Persie soon be waving goodbye to Arsenal?

On his way: Will Robin van Persie soon be waving goodbye to Arsenal?

There has been no approach made to Arsenal yet by City but that now seems inevitable in the coming days and weeks.

Van Persie is also on the wanted list of Italian giants Juventus as well as Barcelona in Spain.

Dont really want him but a cheeky bid would be fun if nothing more to watch Le Arse fans and Wenger froth at the mouth - maybe £15 Million would take them into a frenzy

Durham would take the piss on talkshite

Personally i hope he stays has a shit season and fook off on a freebie next season

It was plain to see to me during those 3 games that sneijder was one of a minority of Dutch players who looked interested. He played his heart out and tried carrying that team on his own. Great attitude.

I struggle to comprehend the attraction with London???

His missus doesn't want to leave apparently. Why would you want to live in a place that is so busy with so much traffic etc??

Surely the posh Cheshire suburbs are a nicer place to live. Manchester is a nice city in its own right.

I have been to London loads of times and can't wait to leave the place.

Don't get it.
You must try harder next time you visit London.

He doesn't need to 'expand'. London is unquestionably one of the great cities of the world.

I had a bad experience with the people. Went to see Oasis at Wembley and got the tube back into central London. My mate was shitfaced and we had to get a coach back to Portsmouth (live on the isle of wight).

We had 10 mins til it left til the coach was leaving and I was asking people where the Victoria departure depot was as was it separate to where we arrived and we did not realise.

I was asking passers by (very politely) for directions. must have been about the 10th person that finally responded. The rest just looked at the ground and carried on walking. If you don't know, then why not just say.

Rude twats!

We made it with 2 mins to spare.
Phew!
