Or not, as the case may be. Others may see them desperate to sell and recoup their cash, given the clubs business model of the last few years.

Worst case scenario, we keep the four strikers we have and have the strongest frontline in the Prem.

Best case scenario, Cavani or Falcao and RVP sign and we get rid of Tevez at last and, sadly, offload Edin. This plus Martinez would make my summer.
The difference between Nasri and RVP is very simple from business point of view.

nasri was bought for 15 million and was 24 years old.....letting him see out his contract at the age of 24 was never gonna happen.

RVP was bought for 2.75 million and they got 8 years from him. They can afford to see him out his contract if they dont get the right offer and they already bought 2 strikers. Van persie is a fantastic striker, but I really dont get this one man team nonsense as he had a team build around him last season. basically they all played to feed him and despite being top scorer he had by far more chances than any other striker in the league. The guy misses crazy amount of chances

24 (nasri) or 28 (RVP), is irrelevant, there is no way that arse will let him run his contract down, they'd be throwing away 20 million.

I know what your saying mate, he pretty much was a one man team, but top players don't go to other clubs and suddenly become background players. i don't think he will ever have another season like that again, or even an injury free one, which is why some on here are wary of getting him. The scary thing is, we missed shit loads of chances last year as well
I dont think he will have a better season either. But as someone said earlier....RVP is very good creator and even when he doesnt score, he set up his team mates better than any City striker imo. I think it will be tricky to keep tevez, balotelli, rvp and aguero happy though. You cant rotate every game and people are forgetting tevez was out alot of last season, so this problem didnt happen

If you come to city now, you almost have to buy into the fact that you will be rested from time to time. Not many clubs could have the luxury of taking aguero off with 20 mins to go. There are 4 competitions to play in, plus city did play with 3 forwards on quite a few times at home last year. If we keep winning, no reasons for the players to moan. Its also an added kick up the arse for them, knowing if they don't play well, ballotelli will be on, and if he scores you could be sat on the bench for a few games
Last season we were missing Balotelli and Tevez for much of the season.

Maybe we can play Tevez in behind Aguero and Balotelli

City will be hoping to defend the title and win a Cup so we'll need to use more players than last season

No chance City will start next season with 5 strikers.

RVP is a top quality finisher, but I don't think his all round game is as good as Aguero or Tevez. Tevez can play in midfield, or behind the front two and his vision and workrate is exceptional. Aguero doesn't have the workrate of Tevez but he is a great dribbler-something that RVP doesn't have.

Not seeking to diminsh RVP's game. He is an exceptional player, but so are City's existing strikers. I think the chances of City signing RVP are diminishing fast. Tevez has returned and is looking up for it, and with that in mind much of the impetus for signing RVP has gone. I can't see anyone at City showing much appetite for chasing the fee higher.

If I were Wenger I'd keep him. One season of RVP is worth more than £20m to Arsenal

It still seems weird that we can debate signing RVP, shows how far we have come. After mario's performance in the euro's, how can our options get any better realistically? tevez and aguero is scary stuff. i think Dzeko fell out with mancini at some point, and hasn't had a fair crack. With tevez's work rate there is no reason why we couldn't play him, RVP, aguero up front at home against the so called lesser teams

Agree. Embarrassment of riches up front. Someone had to lose out last season, and it will be even more competitive this season given the no of games which Tevez and Balotelli missed.

I doubt so. Their most reliable striker, Bendtner, is being sold. Giroud hasn't proven himself in the EPL, and Chamakh is completely unreliable.

Albeit, they are still desperate to keep RVP.

Their "most reliable striker Bendtner" - have you been listening to Bendtner again?

Wenger's latest comments suggest he'll be sold before the season starts. Surprised. Thought they'd hold him to his last 12 months

Van Persie is a world-class striker and I am a big supporter of him. I have supported him through his whole career. He has one year left and is in demand but our desire is to keep him.

"However, we will do what is in best interest of the club. If you have a decoder in your head you can decode that."

Wenger indicated he is keen for the situation to be resolved before Arsenal's first fixture of the Premier League campaign against Sunderland on August 18.

"The official transfer deadline is August 31 but then we can create an internal deadline," the Frenchman said.

Asked if that was before the new campaign kicks off, he replied: "Of course. I believe the transfer market should stop before the season starts anyway."

Arsenal know they are pissing in the wind by expecting anywhere near 30mil, the deal will get done for 20mil, imo.

Surely on his way

I think we'll get him for £22 million

Show me stats on how many chances he had last season. like i said i doubt any player had close to as many chances as he had

Oh you really are bitter. He finished top scorer and dragged Arsenal into Europe. If he comes here he will have players like Silva, Nasri and Yaya feeding him and he will score even more. Without him, Arsenal wouldn't have made top 4 #feederclub

arsenal fans should count themselves lucky, that A) RVP had an incredible season B) that roy hodgson played martin fullop against them (last game of the season), who basically let in 3 goals, otherwise no champs league, and half the fucking team would be off.
Yeh I wonder how much Fulop got for fixing that result. Several obvious and disgraceful "deliberate mistakes" from him. I cant believe there has been no investigation. Much worse than Grobelar for Liverpool.

or maybe he's just a sh!t keeper. if anything the QPR result look dodgier. i mean they just stopped playing the last 2 mins and kicked the ball away after 2-2 to let you score

try this one. Wenger's quote has already been reported in this tread. Decoders at the ready !

Rags are now clear fav.s at Skybet 5/4, we were briefly 3/1 behind Juve but have now stabilised at 2/1.
They seem to be getting some quality players in.
It will be a tough league next year with Chelsea also much strengthened.
Sunday Times saying Adebayor's presence at the club is not doing us any favours with RVP.

Wenger isn't in any position to be setting deadlines, his posturing is just nonsense. The deal will be done when RVP and the buying club decide, not Wenger.

Arsenal fans of my acquaintance have been seeing through his impotent proclamations for quite some time, they are resigned to losing their best players until the power struggle in the boardroom is resolved and they get an owner more interested in investing in the club than using it as a cash cow.

I for one am glad to see them in reduced circumstances, that League Cup final against Birmingham isn't looking like such small beer now is it? The behaviour of their fans at The Emirates last season told me everything I need to know about the poor little rich boys of north London, spiteful and envious to a man.
