Just heard that on ssn. the sky italia pundit telling andy burton that he (yes he, a fucking no mark italian journo) "understands" (has he spoke to him? has he fuck) that Van Persie has said "he wants to join a club with history". ha ha- blackburn rovers? arsenal has history, what they dont have is potential to win stuff and cash.

We've got plenty of history, mate.
So have Arsenal

Yes I know they have. The point I was making was that he posted that Arsenal's history distinguished them from us.

If however, like many Arsenal fans, you believe that history=trophies then I can see why you took issue with my post.

Guardian reporting that Arsenal close to signing Cazorla and they reckon Juve have been in contact with Arsenal again. Arsenal expecting improved bids from Juve and Utd

Wrong sort though, we bought our sucess not organiclally grown over centuries like that there team Juventus (who took their shirts from Notts County) and certainly we don't have history of rigging matches. If it is the rag sort (yawn), or red dippers (yawn).

For those clubs to have that amount of success they must of been bankrolled heavily over the years. With the success comes the fan base and before you know it you are one of the biggest teams in Europe.

I hope he signs before the 4th Mr Back will have some extra cash that he won't mind putting behind the bar for us lot.

He's kind like that.

He'll be buying me lunch with that, AH.

You can eat Sunday, Saturday is for drinking.

Always had me doubts on this player actually joining us. Yes we can agree a fee, yes we can agree wages but is MCFC where he wants to achieve things - thats the bit that concerns me. My own personal stance is if he signs, brilliant we have another world class player on the books if he doesn't, looks at who we do have in striker department not fussed.

I am still confident but if he doesn't sign then it is on to the next target.

If he moves to City he will be very motivated to prove himself - that doesn't bother me. Football wise I'm not sure he's better than Aguero, Tevez or Mario. Might make sense if it's instead of Dzeko, but then again I see RVP as an alternative to Aguero or Balotelli. Dzeko gives us something that none of our other strikers have.

Not being drawn into that argument I have deliberately stayed out of the Dzeko thread nooooooo sireeeeeeeeee. :-)

Time to draw up the drawbridge, man the battlements it seems the press have already declared war on us this year without having kicked a ball in anger. They are really desperate to see us fail, they certainly don't want us to retain the prem league trophy but would like to see their good old bum chum Fergie win it so, he can retire at the top of the game and they can blow smoke up his arse for the next decade.

For all the flappers and worriers on here there is an old saying that he who laughs last laughs longest. I have to say I am puzzled like the rest of people on here at the lack of transfer activity, we seem to have drawn in our horns and in some respects are peddling a very frugal way of dealing. Haven't seen a restriction such as must sell before we can spend since the takeover. Many will lay that at the door of FFPR and become frustrated that oher clubs seem to be ignoring spending limits. Even more frustration because the rags seem to be dominating the headlines with so called interest in players and I have to be frank the Brazillian kid look like a good investment even though overpriced.

It also seems to me we are getting bound up with some sentimentality over certain players I agree it does hurt when so called warriors or players who have contributed to the sucess we have had over the last couple of seasons seem to be on there way out.

I am not sure whether I have any answers or know anything other than what has been stated on here. If there are tensions between Mancini and Marwood and if memory serves me right we had similar tensions last year I cannot see that a Manager who only a few days ago having signed a five year contract with the club wopuld now be thinking of walking away because someone hasn't bid high enough for a player he regards as pivotal to taking us to another level.

In a game of chess the plan is to defeat your opponent through obtaining checkmate, sometimes you have to sacrifice pieces in order to gain an advantage and almost certainly you never look at the next move but have risk assessed and calculated the next five or six moves in advance. I am content at the moment to believe everyone at City knows what they are doing and over the coming weeks those moves will become evident enabling the missing pieces in our squad to be obtained and check mate against our opponents sealed next May.

If all else fails and we have to go into next season as we did last

1) We only failed to get out of the group stages on goal difference
2) We won the league on goal difference with a very high points total.
3) The rags were our only rivals at the end, other opponents trailing by 20+ points. We only play Chelsea twice and last season through good fortune they took three points off us anyway at their place.I would hope only gaining one point against the rags would have them wanting to take points off them as well.
4) We got to the semi final of the Carling Cup
5) We were knocked out in 3rd round of FA cup by the rags but after the ref assisted them by reducing us to 10 men and even so we nearly forced an equaliser.

The transfer window closes two weeks after the season starts, but the real pressure of the league doesn't start until Sept/Oct when the cups and CL kicks in. During August even if we don't sign one player by kick off there are going to be three internationals sitting in the stands who can't even get a game or warm the so called bench.

As for me I am content to leave it in Mancinis hands he hasn't done too bad a job so far. I only care about our club and am prepared to have the last laugh.

None of our forwards are older than RVP,
In Tevez and Kun, we have two world class players, both with better scoring records than RVP.
Mario out shone RVP at the EURO's.
Eden has a better scoring record than RVP. I know its not as simple as that and
RVP is a class act, but if we got Javi Martinez, De Rossi and a couple of young flyers for both full back positions, then would we be concerned that we missed out on RVP?

Neutrals are irrelevent - i think most city fans whom watch the team can see where we need to improve and i suspect it is blindinglu obvious - we need a centre half and a top midfield player to partner Yaya - not arsed about anybody else never have been

You are right we dont see Spuds being taken for cunts but then again they dont shop for the players we have and if they did then they would finish top 3 or at very least a lot closer to the top of the table

United do get taken for cunts - 18 Million for Young? and how much for that useless twat from Blackburn 20 plus million for the Brazillian and we are arsing around on a player whom Bobby wants
To improve the team, we need a top class winger and someone to replace an ageing Barry and RVP to replace Dzeko.

To improve the squad, we need a centre back.

18m for Young was good business compared to how we used to get taken for cunts, same with that twat from Blackburn.
barry's game wont suffer too much from age as he's never been the quickest.
No but surely he will still get comparatively slower....which will be a problem.
